The developing units are retained in the retaining member. The toner cartridges have one-on-one correspondence to the developing units and are configured to be mountable in or detachable from the retaining member when the retaining member is located at the pulled-out position. Each toner cartridge includes a casing formed with a cartridge opening, and a cartridge shutter configured to be movable between an open position for opening the cartridge opening and a closed position for closing the cartridge opening. The operation unit is provided in the retaining member and configured to be pivotally movable in an imaginary plane parallel to the first direction and the second direction. The operation unit is interlocked with the cartridge shutter while the toner cartridge is mounted in the retaining member to move the cartridge shutter between the open position and the closed position in accordance with the pivotal movement of the operation unit.

An image forming system includes a color image forming apparatus including: a color image forming portion for forming a color toner image on a surface of a recording material; a first fixing device including a first fixing member for fixing the color toner image on the surface of the recording material by heating, at a first fixing portion, the surface of the recording material on which the color toner image is formed immediately before by the color image forming portion; a second fixing device including a second fixing member for heating, at a second fixing portion, the surface of the recording material heated immediately before by the first fixing member; and a switching mechanism for switching a conveyance direction of the recording material passing through the first fixing portion to a direction toward the second fixing portion and to a bypass direction of the second fixing portion; a transparent image forming apparatus including: a transparent image forming portion capable of forming a transparent toner image on the surface of the recording material on which the color toner image is fixed by the color image forming apparatus; and a third fixing device including a third fixing member for fixing the transparent toner image on the surface of the recording material by heating, at a third fixing portion, the surface of the recording material on which the transparent toner image is formed immediately before by the transparent image forming portion; and a controller for controlling the switching mechanism so that the conveyance direction of the recording material is, when the surface of the recording material on which the color toner image is formed immediately before by the color image forming portion is to be subjected to formation of the transparent toner image by the transparent image forming apparatus, switched to the bypass direction of the second fixing portion and so that the conveyance direction of the recording material is, when the surface of the recording ...

The method further includes using at least one non-contact charge removal device to remove charge from the second side of the charged sheet; and stacking the discharged sheet.

An image forming apparatus includes a toner image forming device that forms a toner image by using at least one of a plurality of toners that include a color toner and a first transparent toner; an intermediate transfer body to which the toner image is transferred; a second transfer unit that transfers the toner image to a recording medium; and a controller that acquires characteristic information that represents a characteristic of in-plane resistance variation of a currently-used recording medium before the toner image forming device forms the toner image, and if the characteristic information indicates that the in-plane resistance variation of the currently-used recording medium is larger than a predetermined value, controls the toner image forming device so that the toner image forming device forms a transparent toner image in such a way that a color toner image is superimposed on the transparent toner image on the intermediate transfer body.

A toner container and system for mounting and/or securing the toner container includes a toner container having a toner dispensing hole, a shutter, and a protrusion. The shutter is movable relative to the toner dispensing hole, and is to selectively close the toner dispensing hole. The protrusion is connected to the shutter and movement of the protrusion causes the shutter to move relative to the toner dispensing hole to cover the toner dispensing hole. There is a receiver including a movable catch, the movable catch being in a first position when the toner container is initially inserted into the receiver, and the movable catch moving to a second position upon insertion of the toner container into the receiver. The movable catch interacts with the protrusion of the toner container when the toner container is being removed from the receiver.

An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of image bearing members to bear a toner image on a surface thereof, a transfer device including a plurality of transfer members and an endless belt formed into a loop and entrained around the transfer members, to transfer the toner images from the image bearing members onto the surface of the belt so that the toner images are superimposed one atop the other on the belt to form a composite toner image, a plurality of cleaning devices including a cleaning blade to remove residual toner remaining on the image bearing members after transfer of the toner images onto the belt, and a plurality of heaters disposed inside the loop formed by the belt. Each of the heaters is disposed between adjacent image bearing members. The belt is interposed between the plurality of heaters and the plurality of image bearing members.

The printer controller controls the predetermined value to be small when a difference between humidity detection results detected by each of the temperature sensors is large as compared to when the difference is small.
