The synchronisation device includes an electromagnetic braking device which is formed of a coil and at least one permanent magnet and arranged such that an induced voltage is generated between the terminals of the coil in each alternation of the oscillation of the mechanical resonator. The synchronisation device is arranged to be able to reduce momentarily the impedance between the terminals of the coil during distinct time intervals, any two successive time intervals exhibiting between the respective starts thereof a time distance substantially equal to a positive whole number multiplied by half of a set-point period for the mechanical oscillator. 1. Methods and systems for synchronizing clocks used in underwater devices is described. All clocks have some drift due to frequency accuracy and this disclosure provides a method for periodically synchronizing clocks to an accurate master clock to remove long term drift. A synchronization device can use an accurate clock and hardware to transmit both a sound wave and light pulse at the same point in time. Remote slave clocks can detect the light first, and later the sound, allowing them to calculate the distance the pulse had to travel. The clocks can then synchronize their time to the master clock canceling out any drift. The synchronization device can be packaged in a waterproof housing and can be moved around on a periodic basis between the clock on an underwater robot or any other means.

An electric converter includes two power supply capacitors and a device for regulating the medium frequency of the mechanical oscillator. The first power supply capacitor is charged merely with a positive voltage whereas the second capacitor is charged merely with a negative voltage. A load pump is arranged to transfer electric loads between the two capacitors according to a time drift of the mechanical oscillator relative to a time base. 2. All clocks have some drift due to frequency accuracy and this disclosure provides a method for periodically synchronizing clocks to an accurate master clock to remove long term drift. A parking meter and parking meter network is described as well as a method of operating the parking meter and parking meter network. The parking meter network includes a gateway that transmits a first beacon message that is received at the parking meter. The parking meter synchronizes an internal timer based on the receiving of the first beacon message, and then goes to sleep for a period of time. The gateway transmits a second beacon message and the parking meter wakes up at the expiration of the sleep period using the synchronized internal time and receives the second beacon message.

[Class 139] The hands of a secondary clock are operated by motion work driven by a synchronous motor and controlled by a master clock, so that during the last minute of each hour the minute hand is driven at a greatly accelerated rate until it completes the hour of movement, is then stopped, and is released at the end of the hour for movement at normal rate. The adjustment is initiated and stopped by the master clock sending out a single electrical impulse, lasting for one minute, or two separate impulses with one minute interval, each impulse lasting for two seconds. In Fig. 3, shaft 20 carrying the second hand 24 is driven by a wheel 21 engaging a pinion on the motor shaft and drives a planet cam 34 fixed to a collar 22 on the shaft and carrying a planet gear 35 engaging sun wheels 38, 39 with 60 and 59 teeth respectively. Sun wheel 31 is fixed to a sleeve 25 carrying the minute hand 27. Sun wheel 39 is fixed to a sleeve 40 carrying a disc 42 held stationary for 59 minutes of each hour. The planet wheel 35 is rotatably mounted on a sleeve 36 and is held in frictional contact with a wheel 55 held to the sleeve by a spring 57 and friction disc 58. Wheel 55 gears with a wheel 56 on a sleeve 60 secured to a disc 61 which is free when disc 42 is held stationary and vice versa. During the last minute of each hour disc 42 is released and disc 68 is held stationary to control the rotation of the planet wheel 35 on its own axis. Both discs 42 and 61 have toothed edges adapted for engagement with projections on the arms 45, 64, Fig. 6, of a rocking lever operated alternately in opposite directions at the beginning and end of the synchronising minute of each hour by a solenoid 74 through levers 71, 50 and a pin 66 on the latter engaging a third arm 67 on the rocking lever.
