A system and method for organizing photos and other documents include a user interface for displaying photos and data nodes. A photo may be placed at a data node by selecting a facial image in the photo and then moving the facial image (e.g., using a drop and drag technique) to associate the facial image with the node. In alternative embodiments, a portion of a photo other than a facial image may be selected, or an entire photo may be selected, and then placed at the node. The user can identify nodes based on the person in the facial image and tag the photo with identifying information. In some embodiments, existing nodes (e.g., in a family tree) can be displayed in order to have photos placed therein. Relationship nodes can be suggested as facial images are associated with nodes.

An actuating user interface for a media player or other electronic device is disclosed. According to one aspect, the user interface is a display device that can both display visual information and serve as a mechanical actuator to generate input signals is disclosed. A method of window control for display screens includes providing at least one display screen including at least a first application display window (first window), where the first window is exclusive of any dedicated area for selecting window-control functions (WCFs). A detect signal is generated responsive to detecting a mouse pointer hovering over a pre-defined trigger area of the first window. A detect signal is sent to a processor which is coupled to a display driver that is coupled to drive the display screen. Responsive to receiving the detect signal, the processor and display driver cause the displaying of a window control panel (WCP) as a popup within the first window, where the WCP includes a plurality of WCFs including at least close and maximize. 1. A method of window control for display screens , comprising:providing at least one display screen that includes at least a first application display window (first window), said first window being exclusive of any dedicated area for selecting window-control functions (WCFs);generating a detect signal responsive to detecting a mouse hovering over a pre-defined trigger area of said first window;sending said detect signal to a processor which is coupled to a display driver that is coupled to drive said display screen, andresponsive to receiving said detect signal, said processor and said display driver causing a displaying of a window control panel (WCP) as a popup within said first window, said WCP including a plurality of said WCFs including at least close and maximize.2. An information processing apparatus according to the present application includes a cursor control unit, a display position change unit, and a range selection unit. When switching operation for switching to a selection mode for selecting characters included in a display region displayed in a display unit is detected, the cursor control unit displays another cursor different from a cursor displayed in the display region in the display region. When moving operation for moving the display region is detected in the selection mode, the display position change unit maintains one cursor at an original display position or at a certain position near the original display position in the display unit, and moves a display position of the display region together with the other cursor in accordance with the moving operation.
