A method and apparatus are provided for compensating for spatial non-uniformities in a printer by deriving a true spatial non-uniformity tone response curve (TRC) that characterizes the printer in terms of color output variation for each addressable pixel location in a spatial range. The “true average” tone response curve is determined for a color channel. A prediction of the true response as a function of the spatial location is derived by printing and scanning a specially designed halftone-independent target of binary patterns. The predicted tone response curve for each color channel and halftone is predicted using a binary printer model, wherein the “predicted tone response curve” provides a model based approximation of the actual response for each addressable pixel location in the spatial range. Also stored is an “average predicted tone response” by averaging the “predicted tone response curve” over the spatial range of the printer.

According to a technique described herein, whenever there are print jobs waiting in a currently idle printing device's queue, the printing device selects, from among those print jobs, the longest-waiting print job that does not require any resources that the printing device cannot currently supply without human intervention. The printing device removes that print job from the queue and prints that print job, even if other print jobs have been waiting longer in the queue. If the queue contains print jobs that the printing device cannot currently print because the printing device currently lacks sufficient resources to print those print jobs completely, then, for each such print job, the printing device displays reasons why that print job cannot currently be printed. The reasons may include information that identifies the qualities and/or quantities of the resources that the printing device currently lacks but needs. 1. When image is formed by a liquid ejection head, input image data is subjected to conversion processing including tone conversion using a first look-up table (LUT) and density correction or non-uniformity correction in nozzle units using second LUTs. Ink use amount in image formation is predicted from reduced image data which is generated from the input image data. In this, the calculation is made more efficient by applying a third LUT which is compiled according to requirements from the second LUTs, to the reduced image data, rather than using the second LUTs directly. Since the image conversion processing is carried out which combines the first LUT for tone conversion and the third LUT corresponding to the non-uniformity correction, and the ink amount distribution data is calculated from the reduced image data after the conversion, then it is possible to ascertain an accurate ink amount which reflects the image adjustment conditions.

An image forming apparatus capable of changing partitions of a storage unit without using another storage unit stored with a system for partition change. At startup of the image forming apparatus, a file system is developed on a DRAM from a flash memory and executed by a CPU of the image forming apparatus. A method for evaluating and printing a 3D model is provided. According to one aspect, a method is provided for determining quickly what areas of a modeled object can be printed. According to one embodiment, a method is provided that distinguishes from “features” of a model versus “details.” According to one aspect, it is appreciated that some details of a model may be omitted safely in a 3D print output, while portions of a model identified as features may not be printed without some defect in the output. Systems and methods are provided for evaluating the object and its regions and determining whether the object can be printed. 1. A method for printing a three-dimensional (3D) object , the method comprising acts of:positioning the 3D object in a voxel grid;casting a plurality of rays through a model of the 3D object to be printed;for each ray, sorting a plurality of intersections with the 3D object by distance from a cast point of the respective ray;storing in/out state for each of the plurality of intersections; andmarking a plurality of voxels as safe voxels based on a wall thickness determined by the plurality of intersections.2. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising an act of removing all of a plurality of duplicate points.3. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising an act of determining whether a distance between two exterior points along at least one of the plurality of rays is above a minimum wall thickness.4. The method according to claim 3 , further comprising an act of marking an exterior voxel and an adjacent interior voxel as safe if the distance between two exterior points along the at least one of the plurality of rays is above the minimum wall thickness.5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the act of casting comprises an act of casting the plurality of rays in three dimensional space.6.
