In some embodiments, the detachable component is positioned in close proximity to the base component in a first configuration of the RFID switch tag such that the at least one UHF RFID module is sufficiently coupled to the UHF booster in the base component to form an UHF RFID system having a desired performance. The detachable component can also be separated from the base component to obtain a second configuration of the RFID switch tag, and the HF RFID module remains functional within the detached detachable component so that the detachable component can be used as a standalone HF RFID tag.

A method for authenticating a radio frequency identification (“RFID”) tag comprising:receiving a first signal including a first transponder identifier associated with the RFID tag;receiving a second signal including a second transponder identifier, wherein the second transponder identifier is associated with a different transponder than the first transponder identifier; anddetermining, with circuitry, whether the second transponder identifier is associated with the RFID tag.2. The EAS circuit can be deactivating upon application of a field at the resonant frequency of sufficient intensity to cause the breakdown voltage to be exceeded between a coil end and coupling area. The threshold breakdown voltage between a coil end and a coupling area can be reduced by laser ablation treatment of a conductive surface of one or both of the coil end or coupling area.

Disclosed is a low power dual band active electronic tag. The low power dual band active electronic tag according to the present invention relates to an electronic tag comprising; a first antenna which receives a signal of a first frequency band from an active electronic tag identification device; and a second antenna which transmits and receives a signal of a second frequency band. The low power dual band active electronic tag comprises; a wake-up signal generating unit capable of generating induced electromotive force which is induced from the signal of the first frequency band as a wake-up signal; and a micro control unit (MCU) which converts an electronic tag from a sleep mode to a wake-up mode if the wake-up signal is generated and transmits and receives the signal of the second frequency band through the second antenna. The MCU determines whether to convert the signal of the second frequency band from the wake-up mode to the sleep mode or not. The signal of the second frequency is in the sleep mode if communications with the active electronic tag identification device is not needed. The signal of the second frequency is converted into the wake-up mode if the communications are needed. Therefore, a battery of an active electronic tag can be used for a long time because low power standby is possible.

The first and second PLLs(192,194) respectively generate the first and second reference frequency signal. An RF receiver(120) processes an RFID reception signal with the first reference frequency signal. An RF transmitter(140) processes an RFID transmission signal with the first reference frequency signal. A signal coupler(170) couples the reception signals of a specific band by connecting to an input terminal of the RF receiver. A signal level detector(180) converts the coupled signal by using the second reference frequency signal and checks a power level of the converted signal. A controller(160) moves the band of the reference frequency signal by applying control voltage to the first and second PLLs if the power level received from the signal level detector is over a predetermined value.
