A new class of polyhedron is constructed by decorating each of the triangular facets of an icosahedron with the T vertices and connecting edges of a “Goldberg triangle.” A unique set of internal angles in each planar face of each new polyhedron is then obtained, for example by solving a system of n equations and n variables, where the equations set the dihedral angle discrepancy about different types of edge to zero, where the independent variables are a subset of the internal angles in 6 gons. Alternatively, an iterative method that solves for angles within each hexagonal ring may be solved for that nulls dihedral angle discrepancy throughout the polyhedron. The 6 gon faces in the resulting “Goldberg polyhedra” are equilateral and planar, but not equiangular, and nearly spherical.

An application running on a computing platform that employs three-dimensional (3D) modeling is extended using a virtual viewport into which 3D holograms are rendered by a mixed-reality head mounted display (HMD) device. The HMD device user can position the viewport to be rendered next to a real world 2D monitor and use it as a natural extension of the 3D modeling application. For example, the user can interact with modeled objects in mixed-reality and move objects between the monitor and the viewport. The 3D modeling application and HMD device are configured to exchange scene data for modeled objects (such as geometry, lighting, rotation, scale) and user interface parameters (such as mouse and keyboard inputs). Three-dimensional net of elastic material is stretched onto the ribs of the frame in the form of a parametric cube with the assigned type of breakdown into cells in the form of parallelepipeds. Breakdown type is assigned either uniformly, or with a given pattern, each nodal contour point of the network being fixed to the corresponding points of the framework distributed along the length of the curved edges of the frame in accordance with the selected type of stakeout. Contour skeleton is fixed relative to the reference planes of the three bases and fixed to it by the network, the coordinates of the node points of the deformed network are measured in a three-dimensional coordinate system relative to the reference planes of the bases.
