When a change in the resolution of the video signal is detected, the change detected signal indicates that the detection result is output. When a scalar circuit receives the change detected signal, the video display signal is output as a constant value in order to set the display video in the static state.

Embodiments of the present invention provide an approach to resize (e.g., shrink and/or enlarge) objects in a region of a VU so that additional objects can be accommodated. Specifically, embodiments of the present invention provide a mechanism for a region/room to calculate when it has reached full capacity, and use a configurable multiplier to decrease the size of all objects in the room, including avatars, desks, chairs, tables, etc. This allows for accommodation of a significantly higher quantity of objects within the region. In a typical embodiment, the transition to smaller size would be seamless to the user. Moreover, in one embodiment, if the room is of a certain type (e.g., auditorium), additional objects may be auto-created or deleted based on the number of avatars entering or exiting the room. Still yet, objects can be enlarged as the occupancy falls below the capacity.

A screen rendering customization to autocompensate for a user's visual impairment can be applied for each eye in 3D capable devices due to the inherent nature of 3D to display separate images per eye. A unique algebraic transform matrix manipulation can be performed for each of the two images and can provide a more exact corrective lens prescription rendering simulation than for single image rendering for a display.

A projection system projects images onto a projection surface in, for example, a computer game head-mounted display (HMD). The light is projected through a spatial light modulator that contains a phase-only image of a Freeform Fourier Lens that is a combination of a Fresnel lens, an X-phase grating, a Y-phase grating, and a radial grating. The freeform lens is a condensing freeform lens that causes the gradual shrinking of portions of the laser-projected image, decreasing the perceived pixel pitch in at least one foveal area on the projection surface compared to a non-modulated laser image. The center positions of the Fresnel lens and radial grating can be changed in the X and Y axes, moving the condensed foveal areas in accordance with eye tracking of the user. In effect, the system projects a Foveated image that contains variable pixel pitch such that a user perceives a higher visual acuity in his gaze direction to the projected surface. 1. A system and method for calibrating a digital imaging device for color correction is disclosed. The method comprises obtaining an input color value and a reference color value for each of a plurality of color references, as well as a noise evaluation image having a color noise for evaluating noise reduction, the input color values and reference color values being in a non-linear color space. A plurality of color correction parameters are determined as optimized based on evaluating a fitness function in the non-linear color space. The non-linear color space can be a CIE L*a*b* color space. The fitness function can include a color correction error and a noise amplification metric so as to reduce noise amplification during color correction.

An image processing method performed by image processing device having an operating system includes receiving, by an image processing module of the operating system, an instruction of a first application program to call the image processing module of the operating system, where the instruction carries a to-be-displayed image and a resolution of the to-be-displayed image. The image processing method of claim 1 , wherein performing the image optimization processing on the to-be-displayed image comprises performing super-resolution processing on the to-be-displayed image claim 1 , and wherein the image optimization permission is a super-resolution processing permission.3.
