Methods and systems are provided for detecting a grip event on a touchscreen display and adjusting the displayed content based on the location of the grip event. The content that is covered by a grip event is identified and moved out from under the grip event by adjusting the displayed content layout. The area of the grip event may be determined to allow for adjusting the layout of the displayed. Alerts may be implemented to alert a user when there is a change in a content that is covered by a grip event. The grip event outline may be estimated and menu icons or icons may be positioned and displayed in close contour profile to estimated outline of the grip event. A grip event location may be suggested based on a user's touch habits or display content layout.

A digital screen rendering resolution adjustment can allow users who are conventionally dependent upon corrective lenses to view the digital screen to, after the resolution adjustment, view the contents of this screen with 20×20 vision (considered normal vision), without the use of these corrective lenses. A linear algebraic transform (performing essentially the inverse of the Lensmaker's Equation) can be applied and enact matrix manipulation that when rendering the graphical display to autocompensate for a viewer's visual abnormalities, can result in a distorted screen that is equivalent to the inverse of a corrective lens prescription. A screen rendering customization to autocompensate for a user's visual impairment can be applied for each eye in 3D capable devices due to the inherent nature of 3D to display separate images per eye. A unique algebraic transform matrix manipulation can be performed for each of the two images and can provide a more exact corrective lens prescription rendering simulation than for single image rendering for a display.

The present technique relates to a display device and method, and a program for presenting high-quality stereoscopic images in a simpler manner. A display unit is a four-viewpoint display device having a parallax barrier. On the display unit, block regions that are formed with pixels of channels CH 0 through CH 3 aligned in the parallax direction are aligned in the parallax direction. An allocation control unit allocates a parallax image for the left eye or a parallax image for the right eye to the pixels of each channel in block regions, in accordance with the viewpoint position of the user. For example, the same parallax image is allocated to pixels of two different channels adjacent to each other in the parallax direction. A generating unit generates a combined image by combining the parallax image for the right eye and the parallax image for the left eye in accordance with the allocation performed by the allocation control unit, and causes the display unit to stereoscopically display the combined image. The present invention can be applied to display devices.
