The method includes identifying whether the system stream file to be playback is the first system stream file or the second system stream file, in accordance with a file extension of the system stream file, and selecting a decryption process of the system stream file.

The signal may include geo-location information. The geo-location information identifies the location of the physical structure. In other cases the signal includes a marker or identifier. The marker or identifier provides a reference point for images depicting the physical structure.

Image capture device with steganographic data embedding

An image capture device is provided with processing circuitry that steganographically embeds plural-bit auxiliary data within the captured image data. The embedding may be accomplished by adding a low level noise signal to the image data, where the noise signal has the auxiliary data encoded therein. Redundantly embedding auxiliary data in source signals

The present invention relates to a data hiding method that includes changing values of input pixels corresponding to an input two-dimensional image to encode an N-bit auxiliary data signal therein, thereby yielding encoded output pixels defining an encoded output image. Once encoded in the media signal the plural-bit auxiliary signal is generally imperceptible to a human observer of the encoded media signal. The method includes receiving the encoded media signal; and decoding the received encoded media signal to extract the plural-bit auxiliary signal therefrom. The decoding analyzes a plurality of intervals of the media signal with greater or lesser confidence in the extracted multi-bit auxiliary data signal being obtained by processing more or less intervals of the encoded media signal, respectively.

Audio encoding to convey auxiliary information, and media embodying same

Methods of processing audio to convey auxiliary information hidden therein are provided. Various arrangements are disclosed. One alters data representing audio to include a sequence of bits of auxiliary information. The altering is based on a carrier signal and corresponding to the sequence of bits, and is based on a perceptibility threshold that varies within the data representing audio. Other arrangements are provided as well.

Methods and systems for steganographic processing

Electronic content data (e.g., audio or visual) can be steganographically encoded for a variety of purposes. One claim recites a method practiced by a first party, including the acts: (a) receiving content that has been previously steganographically encoded by a second party with first plural-bit data; and (b) utilizing a programmed electronic processor, further steganographically encoding the content with a second plural-bit data different than the first. The further encoding includes altering digital data representing human-perceptible attributes of the content, in a manner that is dependent on the content. Digital or analog objects are steganographically encoded with plural bit digital data. The encoding may proceed with reference to biometric data, such as fingerprint or retinal scan data. One application of such technology is to encode identification documents, such as a drivers' licenses. The encoded data can later be decoded and used, e.g., for authentication purposes.

A decoder process reads a message steganographically encoded in a composite signal. One decoding process operates on a potentially modified version of the composite signal. The message is comprised of one or more symbols, each being associated with predetermined signal characteristics. The decoding process correlates these predetermined signal characteristics with the potentially modified composite signal to decode message symbols. Another decoding process analyzes a potentially modified version of the composite signal to gather evidence of signal characteristic associated with a message symbol. Based on the evidence, it determines whether the message symbol is present in the potentially modified version of the composite signal. Yet another decoding process analyzes the composite signal to gather evidence of characteristics associated with the message symbols in the message. Based on the evidence, it estimates message symbols. It compares the estimated message symbols with one or more message symbols known to be included in the message to assess whether the composite signal has a valid message.

Digital watermark decoding method

To decode a digital watermark from an image notwithstanding geometrical corruption of the image (e.g., scale, rotation, etc.), a Fourier-Mellin transform is advantageously used. In a particular method, an image is transformed to the spatial frequency domain. Transformed components of the image are then pattern-matched to reference frequencies, and the thus-altered image components are transformed back to the spatial image domain to effect registration of the image prior to watermark decoding.

Documents and apparatus to encode documents

The present invention relates generally to documents, e.g., such as legal tender, currency and identification documents, and apparatus for encoding documents. One claim recites: a physical document including a machine-detectable hidden signal. Presence of the hidden signal is determined by collecting visible light image data associated with the document and transforming the image data to a complementary domain to generate transform data. Presence of a telltale pattern in the transform data indicates a presence of the hidden signal. The hidden signal is associated with a type or status of the physical document.
