Individual torsion springs engage each of the contact arms to provide contact pressure when the circuit breaker is closed. The construction of the contact arms and carrier are such that under severe overcurrent conditions electro-dynamic blowoff forces acting on the contact arms may bring about contact separation that is substantially as great as the contact separation that takes place when the circuit breaker is opened normally by its contact operating mechanism. An individual anti-rebound pin for each pole engages the contact arm of the associated pole to prevent rebound reclosing after electrodynamic opening. A camming means on the carrier releases the anti-rebound latches to permit manual closing of the contacts.

A reed switch which comprises a first reed of conductive material and a second reed of conductive non-magnetic material mounted in cooperating spaced relation to said first reed. The first reed comprises a body of conductive material having a contact section, an intermediate spring section and a support section, with the intermediate section being foil thin and the contact section being substantially rigid and non-flexible and being substantially thicker than said intermediate section. The intermediate section comprises a leaf spring having a flexibility permitting one end of said leaf spring to flex a substantial distance through an arc with respect to the other end of said leaf spring without exceeding the elastic limits of said spring. The intermediate section is cold-worked to a point where said conductive material assumes a substantial change in physical characteristics and is substantially harder, less ductile and more dense than said contact section and has a substantially higher tensile strength than said contact section. This invention also includes a magnetic operator mounted in cooperating spaced relation to said first and second reeds, whereby cooperative operation of said magnetic operator with said magnetic reed causes said magnetic reed to move into or out of contact with said non-magnetic reed.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Kontaktanordnung für strombegrenzende Schutzschalter im Niederspannungsbereich mit festgehaltener elektrodynamischer Kontaktöffnung. Sich um einen Lagerbolzen (14) windende Kontaktdruck-Drehfedern (30; 32) stützen sich jeweils zwischen einem federkraftbeaufschlagten Rastnocken (44; 46) und einem Arm einer Drehkontaktbrücke (16) ab. Durch entsprechende kopfseitige Formgebung des Rastnockens (44; 46) wird beim Auftreten eines Kurzschlussstromes der auf die Drehkontaktbrücke (16) wirkenden elektrodynamischen Öffnungskraft ein veränderliches Drehmoment entgegengesetzt. Dieses durch die Kombination aus Drehfedern (30; 32) und federbeaufschlagten Rastnocken (44; 46) erzeugte Drehmoment bewirkt zum einen eine anfängliche Verzögerung der Abstoßbewegung und zum anderen den Übergang der Drehkontaktbrücke (16) in eine rastende Abstoßstellung.
