The socket jack comprises a printed circuit board or card and circuit- making contact springs. The contact springs contact and coact with printed circuit conductors or elements on the printed circuit board to establish mutually insulated normal through circuits or current conducting paths each terminating at opposite ends in two terminals. The terminals of the normal through circuits are adapted to be connected to electrical equip. or electrical circuits located outside the jack. The contact springs are actuable by reception of a patch cord plug in the jack to open or break the normal through circuits so disconnecting the terminals of the normal through circuits from the second terminals. The normal through circuits may terminate at opposite ends in a pair of multi-terminal connectors. These multi-terminal connectors may be mounted directly on the printed circuit board. The invention may be used for interconnecting circuits of computers on data communication equip. like modems.

The blocks 47 have abutments 49 and 54 which are engaged by tines 56a and 60a to respectively lock and centre the block in its compartment. The tines 56a, 60a also serve to cushion the block against shocks. A removal tool is provided for the blocks having two sheet metal prongs which may be slid in on either side of the block 47 between the wall 48 and the tine 56a to disengage the tine from the abutment 49.

A fitting that combines an electrical plug with an electrical adaptor. The fitting, see Figure 6, has a base casing 1 from which protrudes three pins; a live pin 3, a neutral pin 4, and an earth pin 5. These pins will locate into a standard wall socket. The top cover 2 is produced with three rectangular holes which correspond with the three pins in the base casing 1 and are identical to the rectangular holes in a wall socket. These holes allow a plug or a similar plug/adaptor to be inserted and connect internally to the three pins on the base casing 1 via connecting metal jaws. An electrical cord 8 enters the fitting and connects internally to the three pins by the use of screwed clamps. The cord 8 is retained by plastic cord grips 7 where it enters the fitting. The plug/adaptor is fitted with an electrical fuse.
