The connector for connecting two busbars, with the profile of a semi-closed U-shape, has the busbars placed end to end with a narrow gap between them. They are held in appropriate guides such that a short length of each is exposed near the gap separating them. The busbars have longitudinal grooves down the legs of the U-shape. The connecting piece is also U-shaped with a longitudinal projection on the inside of each leg, mating with the busbar grooves when snapped over the exposed sections. The base of the connector is cutaway to form two tongues which fit in the slots at the top of the two busbars. ADVANTAGE - Inexpensive and effective connector which compensates for expansion/contraction during temp. changes.

An electrical busway plug-in unit includes a pair of restraint mechanisms extending through the housing of the plug-in unit for mechanically attaching the plug-in unit to the busway. Each restraint mechanism includes a rotatable shaft extending through the front wall of the housing, and a knob attached to the front end of the shaft, on the exterior side of the front wall of the housing, for manually rotating the shaft. A mechanical connector projects rearwardly from the rear wall of the housing and extends forwardly into the interior of the housing where the connector is coupled to the shaft so that rotational movement of the shaft in opposite directions moves the connector into and out of latching engagement with the busway.

In some embodiments, a mounting adapter may be inserted into an aperture of the current sensor. A bus bar may then be inserted into an aperture in the mounting adapter sized to receive the bus bar and to align it within the current sensor. The outside surfaces of the flanks are at least partly flat from the base and have at outer extremities a 10 deg. chamfer. Elements clip into an insulator support with a flat base with pairs of ribs (54, 55) inclined towards one another at an angle slightly more than that of the 'U' flanks. Each pair of shoulders can clamp the rail at its flanks. The ribs can partly enclose the rail element to limit the access to the zone of electrical contact.

The insulating support is for conductor rails, normally suspended and carrying sliding take-off power points. The support is mounted within an overall basically 'U' shaped screen (5) and consists of a series of horizontal channels in a single insulating block. The conductors are held only by the slot shape, hence buckling due to heating effect is avoided. Replacement conductors are inserted by sliding them into the channels. The block has two inward facing 'L' shaped walls (25, 26) equally spaced about it axial centre line.
