The delay measurement byte sent by the second node is adjusted by the second node to indicate its receipt by the second node. A measured delay value is determined. The measured delay value is the delay between a time of sending the first packet to the second node and receiving the second packet from the second node. The measured delay value is determined by the hardware of the first node. Upon determining the measured delay value, timer values of the HTM state machine are set based on the measured delay value.

A communication system in which a primary base station or a secondary base station communicates with a mobile terminal. The primary base station sends the mobile terminal and the secondary base station an announcement signal which includes identification information for identifying a cell of the primary base station. When receiving the announcement signal, the secondary base station sends the mobile terminal a pseudo announcement signal which includes the identification information and adjacent cell information which includes information for a cell of the secondary base station. When receiving the announcement signal and the pseudo announcement signal, the mobile terminal compares a reception power of the signal received from the primary base station with that of the signal received from the secondary base station, and performs communication with one of the base stations which has higher power.

An existing path in a connection-oriented network requires resizing from a first size to a second size. Nodes exchange control plane signalling with other nodes which advertises available resources on links between nodes. A node on the existing path receives a request to establish a path capable of being resized to the second size. The node determines, using information acquired by the control plane signalling with other nodes, a new path between nodes capable of supporting the second size. The node signals to establish the new path and switches traffic from the existing path to the new path. The node causes the new path to be resized to the second size. When a transmission rate of an OTN data frame increases, a length of a payload area constantly increases, while a length of an overhead area does not increase. In other words, in OTN data frames at different transmission rates, lengths of overhead areas are fixed. As the transmission rates of the OTN data frames increase, lengths of payload areas constantly increase. In this way, when the rate increases, overheads do not occupy more bandwidths, thereby improving bandwidth utilization.

The present invention categorizes a plurality of cells that are configured to a user equipment into at least one cell group, and configures an anchor cell for each of the cell groups. The anchor cell for each of the cell groups is used for transmitting a PUCCH, which carries uplink control information on a pertinent cell group, and in a random access process for acquiring a timing advance with respect to the pertinent cell group. When the uplink control information is transmitted from a PUSCH of one cell, the PUSCH carries only the uplink control information on the cell group to which the one cell belongs and does not carry information on another cell group.
