A method for improving LDP (Label Distribution Protocol) convergence time in an MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) network is described. An hierarchical LSP is established to transport packets belonging to a FEC attached to an egress LSR. The hierarchical LSP includes an egress LSR LSP that is common for each of the FECs attached to the egress LSR and forms a path from the ingress LSR through one or more intermediate LSRs to the egress LSR. The egress LSR LSP is used when label switching packets destined for the FECs attached to the egress LSR. The hierarchical LSP also includes a unique FEC LSP for each FEC that is used by the egress LSR to identify and forward packets to that FEC. Responsive to a topology change that changes a next-hop of the ingress LSR to reach the egress LSR, the ingress LSR modifies an entry in a forwarding structure to change the next-hop for the egress LSR LSP and does not modify substantially any forwarding structure entities for the FEC LSPs. LDP convergence time is reduced through a reduction of forwarding structure modifications after the topology change.

The disclosure relates to a method of routing for an Autonomous System AS in a communication system, in which the AS comprises a plurality of network devices including a first network device and a second network device. The first network device distributes routing information to a forwarding table by calculating a first route from the first network device to the second network device. The first network device receives information of a destination network device of the communication system from the second network device, and forms a second route from the second network device to the destination network device to be stored in the forwarding table using the received information of the destination network device. When the first route fails, the first network device calculates a third route from the first network device to the second network device and updates the routing information in the forwarding table according to the third route. 1. A method of routing for an Autonomous System (AS) in a communication system , the AS comprising a plurality of network devices including a first network device and a second network device , the method comprising:the first network device:distributing routing information to a forwarding table by calculating a first route from the first network device to the second network device;receiving information of a destination network device of the communication system from the second network device, and forming a second route from the second network device to the destination network device to be stored in the forwarding table using the received information of the destination network device; andwhen the first route fails, calculating a third route from the first network device to the second network device and updating the routing information in the forwarding table according to the third route.2. A system and method for retaining routes in a control plane learned by an inter-domain routing protocol in the event of a connectivity failure between routers. Routers are classified as either route reflectors or originators. A determination is made whether the connectivity failure occurred between a route reflector and an originator, two originators, or two route reflectors. A determination is then made whether to propagate a withdrawal of learned routes based on whether the connectivity failure occurred between a route reflector and an originator, two originators, or two route reflectors. A withdrawal of learned routes is propagated to neighboring routers if the connectivity failure occurred between two originators, or between a route reflector and an originator that is inaccessible via an intra-domain routing protocol. A mechanism provides autonomic recovery for a breakout appliance at the edge of a mobile data network from a variety of errors using a combination of hardware, software and network recovery actions. The recovery actions proceed upon a sliding scale depending on the severity of the problem to achieve the goals of minimizing disruption to traffic flowing through the NodeB while also maintaining an acceptable cost of ownership/maintenance of the system by automatically recovering from as many problems as possible. The error recovery functions within the breakout system hide the error recovery complexities from the management system upstream in the mobile data network. For critical, non-recoverable errors, the autonomic recovery mechanism works in conjunction with a fail-to-wire module to remove the breakout system in the event of a failure in such a way that the mobile data network functions as if the breakout system is no longer present.

Briefly, in accordance with one or more embodiments, a codebook for wireless transmissions may be generated by dividing a codebook into a fixed set of codewords and an adaptive set of codewords. The adaptive set of codewords may be scaled to cluster together and then rotated to be centered or nearly centered about a target. The adaptive set of codewords may then be merged with the fixed set of codewords to provide a hybrid codebook. A codeword from the hybrid codebook may be selected for precoding a transmission to provide a minimum, or nearly minimum, quantization error.
