According to the technique, when a mobile terminal (UE) 1 performs bootstrapping (BS) processing on an access network (N3G access ( 3 )), the address of another communication interface (home prefix) already connected to the desired PGW (T-PGW′ 5 b ) is notified to a connection destination PGW (I-PGW 5 a ). If the I-PGW does not manage the address, processing is so performed that BS processing will be started from the T-PGW managing the address to the mobile terminal. Further, if the mobile terminal is connected to an I-PGW undesired on the N3G access, a request is made for reuse of a key exchanged with the I-PGW upon switching the connection from the I-PGW to the desired T-PGW.

A service is applied in a packet switching device to both directions of a flow of packets through the packet switching device, with the application of this Layer-4 to layer-7 service to one direction requiring state information shared from the application of the service to packets traversing in the other direction. The service (e.g. firewall, network address translation) can be applied by different processing complexes which do not share memory; thus, state information is communicated between the processing complexes. When the service is applied by a single processing complex, packets can be directed explicitly to the single processing complex. The inline application of services in a packet switching system typically eliminates the need to change a packet's path through the packet switching system to that through a dedicated application server, and may eliminate the need for a dedicated services card or blade server.

The present invention discloses a method, system and device for implementing identity identifier and location separation, to solve the technical problem that the change of the host IP address results in the connection interrupt of the terminal in the process of moving. By separating and mapping the identity identifier and location identifier, the present invention eliminates the network limitation because of the IP addresses with dual functions of the identity identifier and location identifier; the terminal host identity identifier and the terminal location identifier are mapped, the IP address is used for route only, and the host identity is denoted by the host identifier. Consequently, when the host address is changed because of moving or multi-homing and so on, the route is changed, the host identifier still keeps unchanged, and the network application and connection are not interrupted. Therefore, the continuity of the session can be implemented, the mobility, the multi-homing, the dynamic reallocation of IP addresses, and the inter-access among the different network area can be implemented effectively.

A shared network interface controller (NIC) interfaces a plurality of operating system domains as part of the load-store architecture of the operating system domains. A bus interface couples the NIC to a load-store domain bus (such as PCI-Express), using header information to associate data on the bus with an originating operating system domain. Transmit/receive logic connects the NIC to the network. Association logic allows the NIC to designate, and later lookup which destination MAC address (on the Ethernet side) is associated with which operating system domain. Descriptor register files and Control Status Registers (CSR's) specific to an operating system domain are duplicated and made available for each domain. Several direct memory access (DMA) engines are provided to improve throughput. Packet replication logic, filters (perfect and hash) and VLAN tables are used for looping back packets originating from one operating system domain to another and other operations.

Global remappable addresses can be announced from multiple points across the Internet or other public networks. A global address can be mapped to one or more internal addresses for a provider, such that when traffic is received to a given network location the provider can determine whether the traffic is to be processed in the current network location or a different network location, as may be determined using a static process or a dynamic process based on any of a number of factors. If the traffic is destined for a different network location, the traffic can be remapped and forwarded to that network location over a public or private network. Once the traffic is in the determined destination network location, the traffic can be remapped and delivered to the ultimate destination. The remappings and destination network locations can be adjusted at any time, based on any of a number of factors, without significant risk of dropping traffic.

A thermostat communication server stores a thermostat battery-level to determine what data should be sent to the thermostat. The thermostat communication server classifies types of data to be transmitted to the thermostat according to a data priority ranging from a low-priority to a high-priority data type. If the battery-level associated with the battery on the thermostat is at a low battery-level, the thermostat communication server may only transmit data classified under a high-priority data type. This conserves the power used by the thermostat, allows the battery on the thermostat time to recharge and perform other functions. If the battery-level of the thermostat is at a high level, the thermostat communication server may transmit a range of data to the thermostat classified from a low-priority type to a high-priority data type.
