Each persona has its own visual interface on the mobile device and a corresponding set of rules. The relationship between personas and telephone numbers, and associated rules, are stored on an application server on the network. The application server routes incoming connections to a specific persona on the single mobile device based on the plurality of rules. The rules can be edited by a user of the mobile device via an interface or via another device connected to the network. An SIP stack on the mobile device enables seamless communication with an IP Multimedia Subsystem.

An I-CSCF of user's home domain receives a service request of the user, and if it is found that the S-CSCF currently providing a service for the user fails, assigns a new S-CSCF to the user, and forwards the service request to the newly assigned S-CSCF. The newly assigned S-CSCF interrogates and acquires subscription data of the user and the necessary data backed up by the original S-CSCF from the storage entity, and then restores the user service processing according to the subscription data and the backup data. A device for realizing an IMS disaster tolerance is also provided.

A method in a switching node of a circuit-switched telecommunications network comprises the steps of receiving from a packet-switched telecommunications network a request to establish a call towards a mobile station of the circuit-switched telecommunications network, and sending a request message to a location register for an instruction comprising one or more parameters for allowing the continuation of the establishment of the call to the mobile station. Upon receiving the one or more parameters from the location register, at least one of the one or more parameters is used to establish the call towards the mobile station. Furthermore, at least one of the one or more parameters is sent to the packet-switched telecommunications network. The at least one or more parameters sent to the packet-switched telecommunications network relates to the location of the mobile station. Therefore, entities within a packet-switched telecommunications network (e.g. an IMS network) that handle the terminating call for a call that is delivered to circuit-switched telecommunications network access (e.g. GSM), receive location information related to the connected party, i.e. the party (mobile terminal) receiving the call. This information is received transparently in SIP signalling.

The node-specific charging information may comprise charging data and at least one of: an indication of the type of the charging data; a name or identifier of the node, allowing the node to update charging data which relates to the node and which is carried by a session control message received by the node; and an indication of the version of the charging data, a different version indication being used to indicate different charging data; node name; version number; data name; and value. At least one session control protocol message may be used to carry node-specific charging information relating to a plurality of different nodes.

According to the present disclosure, the content delivery network in the next generation network can support user-generated contents.

The invention proposes a method and an apparatus for reducing break duration in handover of a VoIP conversation from a packet switch domain to a circuit switch domain. The main idea is that a synchronization mechanism is introduced between the session handover procedure at IP multimedia subsystem IMS layer and a cell handover procedure at layer 2 , so that enable the two handover procedures to start at or almost at the same time. When a Mobile Switching Centre MSC server receives a request of handover from the source Mobility Management Entity MME, the time required from the time the MSC server transmitting a message to this message arriving at a remote end user equipment UE is computed first, and then is compared with a predetermined time required from the time the MSC server transmitting a message to this message arriving at the local UE. According to the comparison result, determining an order and time for the MSC server transmitting a request of session handover to the Service Centralization and Continuity Application Server (SCC AS) and transmitting a request of cell handover to the source MME, and transmitting above two requests in according to the order and time, to ensure that the time that the request of session handover arrives at the remote end communication terminal is the same or almost same as the time that the request of cell handover arrives at the local communication terminal.

A method is provided for changing over from a primary home subscriber server (HSS) to a backup HSS in an IP network, said network having a plurality of call server control function (CSCF) (or application) servers, in which, after detection of a loss of connection between one of said CSCF (or application) servers and a primary HSS to which it is normally connected, the CSCF (or application) server connects itself to a backup HSS. The method also comprises the following steps: a) a predetermined broadcast device is informed of said loss of connection with said HSS; b) said broadcast device sends a predetermined fault message at least to the other CSCF (or application) servers that are normally connected to said primary HSS, said message containing the reference of said primary HSS; and c) said other CSCF (or application) servers connect themselves to said backup HSS.

Efficient processing and/or routing of emergency calls in an IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) for VoIP (Voice over IP) subscribers can be enabled. In one aspect, an E911 profile is generated, for example, by an application server, for each VoIP subscriber based in part on current location information associated with the subscriber, such as, the subscriber's IP address. The E911 profile is pushed to the HSS (Home Subscriber Server) of the IMS. The E911 profile can then be stored in the HSS and can be queried by an E-CSCF (Emergency Call Session Control Function) during emergency call processing. Moreover, when an emergency call is received from the subscriber, the E-CSCF can retrieve the E911 profile associated with the subscriber from the HSS and route the call to an appropriate PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) based on an analysis of the information in the E911 profile.

A system and method for a resilient and self-recovery IP multimedia subsystem. In response to a subscriber who is registered with a first S-CSCF, a second S-CSCF is established as well and a flag is provided to a database. The database stores data for the session. The second S-CSCF is concurrent and separate from the first S-CSCF. In addition, the restoration data element in the first S-CSCF is deactivated. When the first S-CSCF is timed-out or fail to respond, instead of sending a restoration data, the second S-CSCF activates the flag with the database so that the second S-CSCF may establish with the database to continue with the session for the subscriber. The database identifies the session and restores the session data for the second S-CSCF.
