To get appropriate bandwidth, two calls are connected at the same time from the calling station to one of the receiving stations. The receiver (30) includes an access switch (36) that uses information from the calling station to pair calls together so that two calls from one calling station are routed to the same receiving station, regardless of the order in which the calls are received by the access switch (36).

Methods and systems for enabling a subscriber to reply to a voice mail message that has been made available for the subscriber at a voice mail system (VMS). In response to an indication, the VMS transmits a release message with respect to the subscriber's communication to the VMS, which communication then is terminated to an intelligent network element (INE). The INE originates a call to the party to whom the subscriber desires to reply. The subscriber's communication and the INE's call are bridged to form the reply call from the subscriber to the party. The VMS is not included in the call path. The individual voice centers are either operated at a hosted facility or at a customer's premise. Provisioning Management Servers help to allocate telephony resources among the voice centers. This is accomplished by suitably updating a voice center directory. In this way, the original capacity at a premise, predetermined by the hardware installed, can be adjusted up or down. If the premise is under capacity, it can be supplemented by that from a hosted facility. If the premise has surplus capacity, it can be reallocated for use by others outside the premise. 1.
