In accordance with some embodiments, a protocol permits communications between platforms and image devices. This allows, for example, the platform to specify particular types of information that the platform may want, the format of information the platform may prefer, and other information that may reduce the amount of processing in the platform. For example, conventionally, in gesture recognition software, the platform receives an ongoing stream of video to be parsed, searched and processed in order to identify gestures. This may consume communications bandwidth between platforms and imaging devices, particularly in cases where wireless communications or other bandwidth limited communications may be involved.

In a communication system, an image forming apparatus sends an address of a receiving section to an external device. The external device receives a selection of image data through plural thumbnails displayed on a display section, and wirelessly sends the selected image data to the image forming apparatus with the address. The image forming apparatus receives the selected image data sent with the address by the external device, and prints an image based on the selected image data. The image forming apparatus accepts a selection indicating whether a communication between the external device and the image forming apparatus is performed by a first communication system method or a second communication system method. The image forming apparatus performs sending and/or receiving the image data with the address by the first communication system method when the first communication system method is selected, and performs sending and/or receiving the image data with the address by the second communication system method when the second communication system method is selected.

Systems and methods for providing remote approval of an image for printing are provided. One system includes a processing circuit in communication with an image capturing device that is configured to capture an image of a printed product. The processing circuit is configured to process the captured image into a processed image accurate to within a tolerance in a color space to indicate the visual appearance of one or more colors. The color space is a standardized color space, such as sRGB or CIELAB. The processing circuit is further configured to transmit the processed image to a display located remote from the image capturing device and to receive an input signal from a remote input device to allow a user to approve or reject the displayed processed image for printing on a print device. 1. An image forming apparatus including a main storage part and an auxiliary storage part , comprising:a boot loader expanding part that expands a boot loader being stored in said auxiliary storage part to said main storage part,a defective area table preparing part that executes the boot loader expanded by said boot loader expanding part to generate a defective area table for said auxiliary storage part, anda kernel defective area referencing part that causes a kernel of an OS to be referred said defective area table generated by said defective area table preparing part and not making generate said defective area table when said kernel is executed.2. The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said auxiliary storage part is a flash memory claim 1 ,said defective area table is a table that has been generated by reading the redundancy areas of the respective pages of each block of the flash memory, andsaid defective area table preparing part generates said defective area table in a format that is usable in common between said boot loader and said kernel.3.
