Methods and apparatus for providing packetized content to users via a bandwidth-optimized network. In one embodiment, legacy and IPTV streams are carried over the same switched digital infrastructure, and freely intermixed without regard to their encoding or type. A user's selection for IPTV content is transmitted to an IP proxy (such as a gateway apparatus or a headend server), then on to the switched digital server which causes provision of the requested content back to the proxy for formatting. The formatted content is then delivered to the requesting IP-capable device. The entire carrier class program stream is therefore available as IP-encapsulated content to the IP capable devices (and as legacy content to legacy devices) without any significant modifications to the network infrastructure or bandwidth penalty.

There are many boxes (e.g., set-top boxes) in a system offering media services to users. Each of the boxes maintains a library with a significant number of titles. Techniques for updating the library in each of these boxes using a transmission infrastructure are described. According to one aspect of the techniques, a service provider is provided with a high bandwidth broadcasting or multicasting capability, a release fragmented into a header and several segments is transmitted to all boxes that are respectively configured to receive a proper release package to update the library. Alternatively, separate release packages may be transmitted via different channels to the boxes, wherein each of the boxes is tuned to a proper channel to receive a proper release package. 1. The present invention relates to a video analysis method, including: receiving a plurality of chunks of a video streamed from a server; extracting one or more frames from each chunk; analysing each frame in accordance with a static image analysis engine to generate a pornographic content rating for the frame; and combining the ratings of the frames from the plurality of chunks to generate a pornographic content rating for the video. A system and software for analysing video also described. 1. A video analysis method , including:a) receiving a plurality of chunks of a video;b) extracting one or more frames from each chunk;c) analysing each extracted frame in accordance with a static image analysis engine to generate a pornographic content rating for the frame; andd) combining the ratings of the analyzed frames to generate a pornographic content rating for the video.2. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein at least some of the chunks are non-contiguous within the video.3. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the chunks are requested from a server.4. The method as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the chunks are requested from a plurality of locations within the video.5. The method as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the locations for the chunks within the video are determined based claim 4 , at least claim 4 , upon the size of the video and the frame rate of the video.6. The method as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the locations for the chunks are separated by a predefined interval.7. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the size of the chunks are determined based claim 1 , at least claim 1 , upon the size and length of the video.8. The method as claimed in claim 1 , further including the step of generating an action if the rating for the video exceeds a predefined threshold.9.
