In a receiver for the DTV system, the second component of the PCC and delayed first component of the PCC are iteratively decoded. There exists a need to reduce re-transmission delays in real time feeds (such as video) by sending the packet with sufficient repair/recovery information inside the packet container so the relaying stations and/or the receiving devices can fix errors in transmission by perusing the contents of the packet and the repair information, and modify the packet and then relay it. By providing the relaying station the ability to fix the error, retransmission of the packet is avoided along each relay station along the network path from source to destination and also by receiving devices that would otherwise request a re-transmission. This application teaches a method so real time streams (e.g. video) may be more efficiently transported over a CSMA based network.

A method and apparatus in which a Tap-Weight Computer (TWC) calculates a Tap-Weight Vector (TWV). The TWV is coupled to a register in each of a plurality of adaptive filter modules. Each such adaptive filter module includes several adaptive filters that each include a tapped delay line. The input to the tapped delay line of each such adaptive filter is one of a plurality of potential interfering signals. The TWV controls the weighting of the outputs from the taps off the delay line. The weighted outputs from each tapped delay line are then subtracted from a received signal which potentially includes interference from the potential interfering signals. The TWC is multiplexed to each of the plurality of adaptive filters so that each adaptive filter is loaded with a TWV calculated by the TWC to reduce the amount of interference contributed by a particular potential interfering signal coupled to an input to that particular adaptive filter. In one embodiment, a plurality of such adaptive filter modules share the same TWC.

Detecting Leakage of OFDM Signals from an HFC Network

Detection of OFDM signals leaking from an HFC network with CCAP architecture is presented. Leak detection includes creating signatures of the OFDM signals and using them in an adaptive coherent cross-correlation processing method. The signature is created at a server and then transmitted to a field leakage detector via a wireless network. The server constructs signatures based on modulation and other parameters of the OFDM signal. The detector adaptively selects valid signatures depending on the location of the detector. A cross-correlation receiver samples the OFDM leakage signal in synchronism with a GPS clock and an OFDM master clock at a CMTS. Capture of the OFDM leakage signal in the detector is synchronized with the symbol rate and timestamp of the OFMD signal to achieve time delay measurements of the leak signal at different locations of the detector. Then, the leak is located using known TDOA or network database methods.

A video segment may include a gate with associated content that is accessible conditioned on consumption of the gate. The manner in which the gate manages access to the associated content may be defined according to rules and syntactical elements. For example, a gate may be unlocked or collapsed. An unlocked gate allows a user to skip the gate and access the gated content. A collapsed gate is automatically skipped. A gate may become locked or un-collapsed. Various commands, including fast forward, rewind, jump forward, and jump backward may respond to a gate based on its locked or collapsed status. Embodiments also provide pooling of gates and selection of a subset of gates for playing.

A method for scanning television channels and a television system are provided. The television system includes a circuit system, a storage unit, and a control circuit. The circuit system is used to receive and demodulate television streaming data, separate information in the television streaming data, and decompress and convert the television streaming data into video and audio. The method is performed in the control circuit. In the method, a channel-selection transceiver circuit receives a channel-selection signal. After channel data stored in the storage unit is analyzed, it is determined whether the channel-selection signal corresponds to any television channel in the channel data. If the channel data does not include the television channel corresponding to the channel-selection signal, a scanning routine is performed in a background for scanning the television channels. A scanning result is then generated and used to update the channel data in the storage unit. 1.
