Methods and apparatus for providing packetized content to users via a bandwidth-optimized network. In one embodiment, legacy and IPTV streams are carried over the same switched digital infrastructure, and freely intermixed without regard to their encoding or type. A user's selection for IPTV content is transmitted to an IP proxy (such as a gateway apparatus or a headend server), then on to the switched digital server which causes provision of the requested content back to the proxy for formatting. The formatted content is then delivered to the requesting IP-capable device. The entire carrier class program stream is therefore available as IP-encapsulated content to the IP capable devices (and as legacy content to legacy devices) without any significant modifications to the network infrastructure or bandwidth penalty.

System and method to extend the data carrying capacity of a hybrid fiber cable (HFC) network by adding wideband RF signal capability above 1 GHz, and replacing at least some CATV active devices such as amplifiers with a new type of Coax Domain Node (CDN) device that acts to segment the CATV cable portion of the HFC network into a series of smaller domains. The CDN generally filter RF signals from 5-865 MHz, while amplifying and passing RF signals over 1 GHz. Upstream capability is enhanced because the CDN intercept 5-42 MHz upstream signals from each domain and convert to 1 GHz+ signals. Downstream capability is also enhanced because the CDN can take efficiently encoded 1 GHz+ digital data, QAM modulate it, and locally inject into each domain without crosstalk between domains. The system pushes data management and downstream from the head end to the CDN, creating more throughput.

The media session management of the invention encompasses a media server having access to multiple unicast-based media channels and a user terminal. The user terminal generates and transmits a generic, channel-transparent session request to the server. The setup procedure involves exchange of requests and responses but no media channel is yet selected or notified at the server. Once the channel-transparent setup has been completed, the user terminal transmits a channel-specific rendering request for a desired media channel to the server. In a subsequent channel switch, the terminal simply transmits a new channel-specific request for a new channel to the server during the ongoing session and reusing the negotiated transport parameters of the channel-transparent setup procedure.

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving, at a broadcast image processor, from a single broadcast event, a plurality of camera feeds, wherein the camera feeds each comprise an image of the single broadcast event from a different angle, providing, by the broadcast image processor, a summary of the plurality of camera feeds to a media processor, receiving, by the broadcast image processor, a request to select a requested angle from among the plurality of camera feeds from the media processor, and creating, by the broadcast image processor, a custom view from the plurality of camera feeds according to the request for the media processor. Other embodiments are disclosed. 1. A method , comprising:sending to a mobile device, by a broadcast image processor comprising a processing system including a processor, camera feed information from a broadcast event, the camera feed information including a plurality of camera feeds, wherein each camera feed of the plurality of camera feeds comprises an image of the broadcast event from a different angle;receiving, by the broadcast image processor, a request from the mobile device for presenting a custom viewing angle of the broadcast event, wherein the request is generated via a graphical user interface of the mobile device;synthesizing, by the broadcast image processor, the custom viewing angle of the broadcast event according to a first camera feed and a second camera feed of the plurality of camera feeds according to camera angle data included in the request;providing, by the broadcast image processor, the custom viewing angle of the broadcast event to a media processor, wherein the synthesizing and providing are performed in real time responsive to the request from the mobile device via the graphical user interface, and wherein the media processor and the mobile device are in communication with the broadcast image processor;instructing, by the broadcast image processor, the mobile device to provide a ...

One or more hardware components identify a bottleneck stage within a processor pipeline that processes frames of a video stream. The bottleneck stage has a first clock. An upstream stage receives a feedback signal from the bottleneck stage. The upstream stage has a second clock and the feedback signal includes information as to time required by the bottleneck stage to operate on data and information as to time the data spent queued. The upstream stage adjusts the speed at which the upstream stage operates and queues data to approximate the speed at which the bottleneck stage is operating and queuing data. 1. On-demand time-shifted access of broadcast content is presented herein. A system can comprise a time-shifted access component that can determine that a mobile device is receiving a broadcast transmission of broadcast content from a broadcast enabled access point device that is configured to send the broadcast content to multiple devices via a point-to-multipoint communication protocol. A storage component can store a copy of the broadcast content in a memory in response to receiving, from the mobile device, an interrupt request to interrupt the broadcast transmission. The time-shifted access component can initiate a transmission of a portion of the copy of the broadcast content to the mobile device in response to receiving a play request from the mobile device. Further, in response to receiving, from the mobile device, a broadcast request to resume the broadcast transmission, the time-shifted access component can halt the transmission and resume the broadcast transmission. 1.
