A customer premises installation has a wireless multimedia center (WMC) for reception from one or more signal sources and for distribution of segments of signals from signal sources through the wireless multimedia center to a plurality of end units, in which the signals include video signals and broadband data. The wireless multimedia center receives all the signals and distributes segments of said signals via a transmitter. The video signals are transmitted by orthogonal frequency division multiplexing in which all signals are added together and summed as an orthogonal array having dimensions of time, frequency and amplitude, to transmit spread spectrum multiplexed signals. Each pulse has sufficiently long individual pulse widths to defeat multi-path, reflection and absorption phase induced losses. The video signals are distributed to one or more end units. The end units communicate with the wireless multimedia center, controlling which segments of which signals are distributed to each end unit.

The method and circuit provides a stable power-up process in which a change of wavelength is small enough to meet DWDM specification requirements, to ensure the elimination and avoidance of crosstalk in adjacent channels in dense wave (sub)systems.

The transaction module further includes a command module for sending commands as normalized data to the provisioning module to implement the new or modified user profile in the one or more virtual PBX's via the wrapper module.

A first Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) Internet Protocol (IP) data network transmits data to a second MPLS IP network via a legacy network, which would not otherwise be able to handle the required user network interface (UNI) protocol by configuring the legacy network and its connection computing apparatus (CCA) so that they emulate an MPLS network. When a firt network element (NE) receives a connection (UNI) request from the MPLS network under a UNI protocol, the UNI request is passed to the CCA, which then sets the required connection across the legacy network via a second network element (NE) to an NE of the second network. Once the connection has been set, the CCA instructs the NE to send a return signal to the requesting network indicating that the connection has been successfully set. Data packets may then be transmitted across the network.

One embodiment of a system for providing services to subscribers of a network supports the provision of a plurality of different services to multiple subscribers. A first processing unit provides a first execution environment for a first set of software applications and a second processing unit provides a second execution environment for a second set of software applications. A data structure is provided for storing data associated with subscribers of the system, the data structure providing a common identity for association with a subscriber which is recognized by all processing units of the system. This provides a common user repository which simplifies the provision of services and the authentication processes within the system.

A system, method, and device for use in videoconferencing. The method typically includes installing a videoconferencing services switch at an access point to an IP network, and registering a plurality of subscribers for videoconferencing services. Each subscriber typically has a plurality of endpoints. The method further includes receiving subscriber-specific settings to be applied to multiple videoconferencing calls from the plurality of endpoints associated with each subscriber. The method further includes storing the subscriber-specific settings at a location accessible to the switch, and configuring the switch to connect calls from the plurality of endpoints at each subscriber based on the corresponding subscriber-specific settings.

The present invention discloses a passive optical network communications method, reporting, by an optical network unit, ONU, a calibration record of the ONU, where the calibration record includes an ID of a calibrated wavelength channel; sending a first message to the ONU when the OLT determines, according to the calibration record, that a target wavelength channel ID corresponding to a target wavelength channel to which the ONU needs to switch is not in the calibration record, where the first message includes a forced wavelength switching flag; and instructing the ONU to switch to the calibrated target wavelength channel. In this way, the ONU can implement wavelength switching quickly after calibrating a new wavelength channel so as to perform data communication over the calibrated new wavelength channel.

Measures for use in operating a network node in a telecommunications network. At a network node located in a second part of the network, signaling messages transmitted between a server and end devices in an at least a first group are monitored. Each monitored signaling message includes a telephone dialing number for a given end device in the at least first group and an extension number for the given end device. On the basis of the monitoring, mapping data is stored which includes mappings between telephone dialing numbers and extension numbers for end devices in the at least first group. In response to detecting a loss of connectivity between a first part of the telecommunications network and the second part of the telecommunications network, extension number dialing request messages received from end devices in the first group are processed according to a detected loss of connectivity operating mode. 1.
