A radio user equipment (UE) mobility status is determined in a communications node. UE mobility status measurements associated with the UE communicating over a radio channel are performed. The UE mobility status corresponds to a degree of variation of the radio channel over time. Channel characteristics of the radio channel at a first time and at a second later time are determined. Based on the determined channel characteristics, a channel characteristic error metric is determined and compared to a predetermined threshold. The UE mobility status is determined based on one or more iterations of the threshold comparison.

A customer premises installation has a wireless multimedia center (WMC) for reception from one or more signal sources and for distribution of segments of signals from signal sources through the wireless multimedia center to a plurality of end units, in which the signals include video signals and broadband data. The wireless multimedia center receives all the signals and distributes segments of said signals via a transmitter. The video signals are transmitted by orthogonal frequency division multiplexing in which all signals are added together and summed as an orthogonal array having dimensions of time, frequency and amplitude, to transmit spread spectrum multiplexed signals. Each pulse has sufficiently long individual pulse widths to defeat multi-path, reflection and absorption phase induced losses. The video signals are distributed to one or more end units. The end units communicate with the wireless multimedia center, controlling which segments of which signals are distributed to each end unit.

Also, disclosed herein is a mechanism to explicitly indicate to the BS whether the message sent by the MS is related to interference measurement.

Where the scheduling is formulated by following a bisection approach to guide adaptation of the frame segmentation, the scheduling determines a subset of users with maximum flow per unit resource for a given frame segmentation and the resulting flow from current and previous scheduling being used to guide adaptation of frame segmentation towards convergence.

Uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) channel management methods in a carrier aggregation environment are used as the channel management methods. In DL, a base station determines a component carrier (CC) of an unstable radio channel state, stops data retransmission by the CC, and notifies a terminal of retransmission stop. In UL, the base station determines a CC of an unstable radio channel state and instructs the terminal to stop data retransmission by the CC, and the terminal stops the data retransmission and initializes a retransmission buffer. Using the channel management methods in the mobile communication system employing the multicarrier structure, an increase in the number of unnecessary retransmissions is prevented, so that unnecessary retransmission and power consumption of the terminal can be reduced and the waste of radio resources and the degradation of base station performance due to unnecessary retransmission can be prevented.

In an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing communication system, a user equipment reports channel quality information that is sufficient to construct a fading profile of a frequency bandwidth and that does not consuming the overhead resulting from the reporting of CQI for every sub-band of the frequency bandwidth. In the communication system, the frequency bandwidth may be represented by multiple sub-band levels, wherein each sub-band level comprises a division of the frequency bandwidth into a number of sub-bands different from the number of sub-bands of the other sub-band levels. The user equipment measures a channel quality associated with each sub-band of a sub-band level of the multiple sub-band levels, selects a sub-band of the sub-band level based on the measured channel qualities, and reports channel quality information associated with the selected sub-band to a radio access network.

A method for testing wireless devices under test (DUTs) in a wireless test station is provided. Each test station may include a test unit, a test chamber with an antenna, and a radio-frequency (RF) cable that connects the test unit to the test chamber. Reference DUTs may be used to calibrate each test station to compute a corrected linear equation based on a nominal path loss value. Over-the-air (OTA) path loss of each test station may not be directly measured. Once calibrated, the test chambers may be used during product testing to test factory DUTs to determine whether a particular factory DUT satisfies pass/fail criteria. During product testing, measured output power levels may be compared with expected output power levels computed using the corrected linear equation. The amount of error between the measured and expected output power levels will determine whether a production DUT satisfies the pass/fail criteria.

Therefore, a NAV Timer cannot account for the reserved duration of the channel by only updating with the longest duration field received. A STA can receive two frames each with a source and destination addresses and update the NAV Timer by comparing the received addresses to overcome such problem. Further, a STA can receive one frame with a source and destination addresses and update the NAV Timer by comparing the received addresses with the NAVSRC and NAVDST values.

This disclosure relates to a system and method for offloading selected data traffic in logical tunnels to the Internet. The offloading provides another data path for selected data traffic that can relieve the burden on a mobile operator's network, such as the backhaul and core networks. As the proliferation of data rich content and increasingly more capable mobile devices has continued, the amount of data communicated over mobile operator's networks has increased. Upgrading the existing network that was designed for voice calls is not desirable or practical for many mobile operators. This disclosure provides systems and methods for offloading data to the Internet at a router to relieve congestion on the mobile operator's network.

The mobile wireless device is connected in a first configuration mode. The mobile wireless communication device receives a control message from a radio network subsystem in the wireless network at a local receive time. The received control message includes a time indication for when to start a configuration mode change of the mobile wireless communication device, which the device extracts from the control message. The mobile wireless communication device reconfigures to a second configuration mode, different from the first configuration mode, based on the extracted time indication and the local receive time.

An automated coverage hole detection (CHD) method based on modifying the setting of a specific parameter of a UE in, e.g., an LTE-based cellular wireless network. Physical RLF events of the UEs, possibly indicative of a coverage hole, are monitored. At least some of the UEs in a given cell are selected for modifying their parameter setting. For UEs that do not have advanced logging and reporting capabilities upon the physical RLF, the existence of a coverage hole is detected by analyzing the correlation between the settings of a timer and the probability for the UE to transit to RRC_IDLE mode. The settings of the timer are systematically adjusted via eNB signalling to evaluate the characteristics of the observed RLFs.
