Machine-type communication (MTC) wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) may operate in M2M groups. MTC WTRUs belonging to the same M2M group may receive a broadcast message with a time window on a channel dedicated for receiving data directed to an M2M group. The MTC WTRUs may wake up during the time window and may receive data directed to an M2M group on a dedicated channel. The broadcast message may be broadcasted via a broadcast server upon a request from an MTC server. The time window is allocated upon a request from an MTC server on behalf of the M2M group.

Methods and apparatus are provided for performing group-based machine-to-machine (M2M) communication. Machine-type communication (MTC) wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) may operate in M2M groups. A group of MTC WTRUs may be paged collectively as a group. An MTC WTRU may store an individual international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) associated with the MTC WTRU, and a group-based IMSI associated with the MTC group that the MTC WTRU belongs to. The MTC WTRU may use one or both IMSIs to receive paging messages. When the MTC WTRU receives a paging message, the MTC WTRU may compare a recipient IMSI contained in the paging message to the individual IMSI and the group-based IMSI. If the recipient IMSI matches the individual IMSI and the group-based IMSI, the MTC WTRU may proceed to process the paging message.

A scheme to reduce the problem of radio interference between wireless devices such as MTC devices in a multi-RAT scenario. Wireless devices are configured (S 10 ) for interference reporting in accordance with their capabilities. Information is collected, not only on interference measurements reported by the wireless devices, but also on device signatures (S 12 ) and transmission patterns (S 14 ) for the purpose of attributing interference, suffered by a reporting device, to one or more offending devices (S 16 ). One or more mitigation techniques is then applied to the offending device and/or the reporting device (S 20 -S 24 ). The scheme provides an additional stability mechanism for existing interference mitigation and co-existence schemes by using device management and avoiding potential conflicts across diverse systems. Under the assumption that geographically co-located devices are all using a common service platform, the centralised algorithm permits more efficient solutions than existing interference mitigation solutions.

Additionally, such new approaches can be used to create a SFN with a common Cell-ID where high mobility is required, such as near a roadway, and to break it up where high capacity is required, such as during a period of traffic congestion.

The present invention relates to a method for transmitting/receiving control information for an M2M device, and a device for same. A method of transmitting Machine to machine (M2M) device control information from a base station in a wireless communication system according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: transmitting a first message including at least one M2M identifier (ID) field to the at least one M2M device; and transmitting at least one second message including resource allocation information for the at least one M2M device to the at least one M2M device.
