Compliant insert for electronics assemblies

A compliant insert is provided to support electronic assemblies to mitigate the effects of external loading. The insert comprises a polymer material having a durometer of between 10 and 90 on the Shore A scale and a 3-D negative relief on the surface of the polymer material. The 3-D negative relief is the negative of the 3-D positive relief of a specified geometric design of an electronics assembly. The compliant insert is mated with an instance of the electronics assembly such that the 3-D negative relief of the polymer material engages the 3-D positive relief of the assembly's PCB and electronic components. The polymer material is compliant enough to absorb the vertical and lateral spacing tolerances of the electronic components and stiff enough to mitigate deflections under loading.

Non-rectangular interposers for space efficient, reliable to manufacture, high speed interconnections between two printed circuit boards, such as a motherboard and a mating board. One example provides space efficiency with a non-rectangular interposer, where the interposer may be at least approximately circular. Reliable manufacturing may be provided by the inclusion of one or more openings to accept one or more alignment features. In one example, a first opening is provided to accept a threaded boss, which may be used to fasten the two printed circuit boards and interposer together. In another example, a second opening may be provided to accept an alignment pin, wherein the pin aligns the interposer to the two printed circuit boards. Contacts may be provided on each side to mate with contacts on each of the two printed circuit boards.

A lamp includes a collar with internal and outer surfaces, where two or more connection pins extend from the internal surface of the collar. At least two connection pins have a head portion distal from the collar internal surface. The head portions include a slot. The lamp includes a light source with at least two external lead-in wires. The lead-in wires are located within respective slots and are mechanically coupled to respective surfaces of the slots in a press-fit manner which may be free of wrapping, winding, twisting, or soldering. A PCB disposed inside the lamp has two opposing surfaces and a rim between the two opposing surfaces. There are conductive surfaces disposed on at least one of the rim and one of the opposing surfaces at positions corresponding to connection pin slots. The PCB is located between connection pins with the conductive surfaces in electrical communication with the lead-in wires.

A slot antenna for a cellular communications system , comprising:a tubular dielectric support that extends along a longitudinal axis;a metal layer that is substantially concentrically arranged with respect to the tubular dielectric support, the metal layer including a first longitudinally-extending slot therein in which metal is omitted;a feed network that includes a transmission line that crosses the first longitudinally-extending slot.2. The slot antenna of claim 1 , wherein the metal layer comprises a metal pattern on a flexible printed circuit board.3. The slot antenna of claim 1 , wherein the metal layer comprises a plated metal pattern that is formed directly on the tubular dielectric support.4. The slot antenna of claim 1 , wherein the metal layer comprises a sheet metal pattern that is adhered to the tubular dielectric support.5. The slot antenna of claim 1 , wherein the feed network resides at least partially within the tubular dielectric support.6. The slot antenna of claim 2 , wherein the tubular dielectric support includes a longitudinally-extending slot.7. The slot antenna of claim 6 , wherein the flexible printed circuit board substantially covers the longitudinally-extending slot in the tubular dielectric support.8.
