Method of Producing Dried Distiller's Grain with Solubles Agglomerated Particles

Номер: US20120076915A1
Автор: Russel J. Meier
Принадлежит: Individual

A method of producing Dried Distiller's Grain with Solubles (DDGS) agglomerated particles is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of separating a first product stream out of the whole stillage that is primarily solid material from a second product stream that is primarily liquid, agglomerating the first product stream using a mechanical compression machine such as an extruder, and exposing the agglomerated particles to microwave radiation of a sufficient energy for a sufficient time so that the resulting moisture of the agglomerated particles is between 3% and 40% by weight. The second product stream may be condensed and blended with the first product stream prior to, or concurrently with, the step in which the agglomerated particles are formed. Additionally, other additives, such as enzymes, may be added to the first product stream to enhance the final product's desirability as a nutritional source.

Efficiency food smoker

Номер: US20130004633A1
Принадлежит: LINK FORGE Ltd

Food smoker with self-basting features and relatively low thermal conductivity chip bowls. A lid of the food smoker may include downward pointing protrusions to control dripping onto food being smoked. This self-basting feature reduces the need to open the food smoker to baste the food smoking. The food smoker may include a ceramic chip bowl to reduce the rate of consumption of wood chips used to add flavoring to the food being smoked. This further reduces the need to open the food smoker. The housing of the smoker may be constructed with inner and outer walls, minimizing the heat loss during the cooking process. In combination, these features result in an improved food smoker that requires less user interaction than traditional systems. Moreover, the food smoker may need to be opened fewer times during the smoking process, which reduces heat loss and thus leads to greater energy efficiency.

Disclosed are ice making machines which use aluminum as an alternative to copper in the ice making machine evaporator and also use an alternate coolant/refrigerant specifically targeted to provide improved heat transfer transport properties and higher heat capacitance than conventional HFC coolant/refrigerants. Optionally, rotary compressors are used in place of conventional reciprocating compressors, further enhancing performance for the ice making machine. The disclosed ice making machines maintain high efficiency and ice output, and provide equal or better energy efficiency than comparative ice making machines. At the same time, savings are realized in the material cost for the evaporator, and resulting from the combined effects of lower density and lower metal cost/unit weight offered by aluminum as compared to copper.

Unfortunately the methionine products/additives solidify/crystallize at about 54° F. In one aspect this invention is an admixture that keeps the methionine products/additives temperature at a level that does not crystallize and thus, eliminates the expensive and time-consuming drawbacks to using methionine products in colder climates.

In order to thoroughly solve existing vinasse problems, in particular in production of bioethanol from plant raw materials, a method is proposed for producing feedstuffs from crustaceans of the genus Artemia (brine shrimp) or Copepoda (oar-footed crustaceans) or Daphnia (water fleas) or from microbes in the form of rotifers or protozoa, the method being characterized in that the crustacean/microbe cultures are fed at least partially with vinasse, preferably thin vinasse, in particular from bioethanol production, and with yeasts contained in the vinasse. At the same time, a method for processing vinasse is provided, the method accordingly being characterized in that the vinasse is used as feed for crustacean/microbe cultures and/or for algae cultures in order to at least partially decompose the yeasts contained in the vinasse. In connection with this, it is also proposed that process heat produced during vinasse production, in particular in the course of producing bioethanol, is used to heat water for the cultivation of crustaceans/microbes and/or algae in order to use the thermal energy content of the vinasse in a useful manner.

Systems and methods for stillage fractionation

Номер: US20160152931A1
Автор: Jason Alan Bootsma
Принадлежит: Poet Research Inc

Systems and methods for fractionating whole stillage from an ethanol production facility are provided. Whole stillage undergoes a separation of its liquid portion (thin stillage) from the solid portion (fiber cake). In some embodiments, the solids and liquids in whole stillage may be separated utilizing a screening centrifuge. The fiber cake may be dried to generate a high fiber animal feed. The thin stillage may be provided to a three-phase separator for separation into an oil emulsion, an aqueous clarified stillage, and a protein paste. The protein paste may be dried to generate a high protein animal feed with greater than about 45% protein content. The clarified thin stillage is condensed to yield a syrup with greater than around 60% solids. The oil emulsion is subjected to a pH adjustment to liberate the oil from the emulsion, which is then separated.
