The coloring agents are a combination of two or more rare earth metal compounds, wherein the rare earth metal compounds having rare earth metal ions selected from the group consisting of praseodymium (Pr) ions, erbium (Er) ions, cerium (Ce) ions, and neodymium (Nd) ions. The concentration of the rare earth metal ions in the solution is 0.05˜3 mol/liter solvent. The molar ratio of Pr ions:Er ions:Ce ions:Nd ions in the solution is 1:(10˜50):(0˜20):(0˜30).

A new fast method for making plastic netting without weaving or knitting. This non-woven netting is made by the cohesion of melting plastic monofilaments extruded by a T Die. Under the reciprocating movement of guide rollers, several groups of melting monofilaments are guided to be crossed, and the pressed and welded together on pressure silicone rollers. When necessary, other yarns or filaments can be added to be crossed, pressed and welded together, to increase the tensile strength of the netting. Generally, it is a kind of netting made by crossing one group of melting plastic monofilaments with other groups of melting plastic monofilaments or by other yarns under the pressing and welding process.

An injection mould has a non-return valve 11 in its inlet passageway 8, 10 which valve is moved to open position by the pressure of injected material but is closed after injection by internal pressure in the mould. The invention is especially applicable to the moulding of foamable plastics material e.g. for making shoe soles and heels. The non-return valve 11 comprises a disc housed in a recess 9 in a member 6 which can be separated from the mould parts to enable the valve disc to be renewed. The valve is shown in Fig. 4 in the injection position wherein the injected material flows through milled slots 13, 14 in the walls of the recess 9. The valve disc may be made of cardboard or paper and may have one or more air escape holes for excess pressure release. The milled slots 13, 14 may be dispensed with if the recess 9 has a diameter somewhat larger than the diameter of the disc 11 (see Figs. 8, 9, not shown).

Method is disclosed for preparing a honeycomb insulation structure having its cells partially filled with a low density foam and a high density integral skin completely covering one edge of the honeycomb. Method comprises placing one edge of a honeycomb in an inert material; introducing a foamable or foaming substance into the cells and allowing it to rise from the surface of the inert material until it overflows slightly. The overflowing foam comes into contact with a pressure platen just above the honeycomb thereby forming the high density integral skin. The level of the material in the cell determines the thickness of the void on one edge. Structure has utility in cryogenic storage.

A cross-oriented multi-layer laminated plastic film is produced by first providing a flattened tubular plastic film having a outer plastic film layer with a first melting temperature and an inner plastic film layer with a second melting temperature lower than the first melting temperature, the outer plastic film layer having a molecular orientation substantially in the direction of the length of the tubular plastic film. The flattened tubular plastic film is passed from an expanding station in an expanded condition along a predetermined path in the direction of the length of said film to a collapsing station in a continuous manner. The expanded tubular plastic film is rotated about the predetermined path as the film passes from the expanding station to the collapsing station to effect cross-orientation of the outer film layer in directions inclined to the direction of travel of the tubular plastic film. The tubular plastic film is flattened at the collapsing station and pressure is applied to the flattened film at a temperature high enough to soften the inner plastic film but low enough not to soften the outer plastic film layer to an extent to cause the outer plastic film layer to lose its molecular orientation. The said pressure causes the opposite sides of the tubular plastic film to engage one another and to cause adjacent inner film layers to become bonded together and to the outer film layers to form a cross-oriented multi-layer laminated plastic film.

In order to form an improved junction which is less liable to tear under shock loads, a diamond pattern of holes (or depressions) is formed in plastics material sheet. The holes are then in two sets of parallel lines each making an angle to the subsequent stretching direction and the holes are also in parallel rows at right angles to the stretching direction. The sheet is stretched so that the zones between adjacent holes in each line form orientated strands and the zones between adjacent holes in each row form junctions which have their lateral zones orientated but have a central zone which is unorientated or less orientated, i.e. which is thicker. The central zone can extend into two opposite crotches or be completely surrounded by highly orientated lateral zones.

The reaction injection molded (RIM) elastomer is made by injecting exactly two streams via a RIM machine into a mold cavity of the desired configuration, a formulation comprising in the first stream amine terminated polyethers of greater than 1,500 molecular weight, an amine terminated chain extender and an internal mold release agent, and in the second stream an aromatic polyisocyanate. The resulting RIM elastomer may be removed from the mold easily. RIM elastomers are useful, for example, for automobile body parts.
