The hydrophilic lotion composition maintains the temperature change composition within the tissue and helps to prevent skin irritation.

An inflatable convective thermal blanket is designed to have at least one section on its top surface that has securely mounted thereon at least one fluid absorbent mechanism for absorbing fluids from a subject that is placed onto the blanket, or from fluids fallen onto the blanket from other sources. The one section is configured onto the blanket in such a way that it forms a well for collecting the fluids. The fluid absorbent mechanism, which may be in the form of a pad, would absorb the collected fluid to thereby minimize evaporative and cooling effects on the subject. PTFE hollow fibers, and its respective fluoro-co and terpolymers as potting films impart high packing densities, superb chemical resistance and temperature resistance without membrane contamination, or low fiber pull strength, as is sometimes observed with standard potting materials such as polyurethane and epoxy.

A method of making a non-compliant balloon comprising:applying a non-woven layer of substantially inelastic first fibers over a removable mandrel, the first fibers comprising randomly oriented fibers defining random intersection angles at a plurality of locations where the first fibers intersect and cross over each other; andapplying at least one outer coating over the randomly oriented first fibers, the coating comprising a polymeric solution;wherein the random angles between the intersecting randomly oriented first fibers are fixed in position relative to the base balloon such that the angle at which each of the randomly oriented fibers intersects another randomly oriented fiber remains constant when the balloon is inflated and deflated.2. The method of wherein the step of applying a non-woven layer of substantially inelastic first fibers over the removable mandrel comprises applying substantially ribbon shaped fibers over the removable mandrel.3. The method of wherein the step of applying a non-woven layer of substantially inelastic claim 1 , first fibers over the removable mandrel comprises applying a non-woven fiber fabric in place over the removable mandrel.4. A method of securing a bottom plate made of a plastic material to one end of an open-ended, hollow cylinder made of a plastic material to produce a plastic cylindrical container, wherein the bottom plate is held in a horizontal position and the open-ended, hollow cylinder having an inner diameter slightly larger than the diameter of the bottom plate is positioned in enclosing relation to the bottom plate in such a manner that a portion of the cylinder projects upwardly a predetermined distance from the bottom plate. The upwardly projecting portion is heated and softened and bent radially inwardly into contact with an outer marginal portion of the bottom plate. The bent portion of the cylinder maintained in contact with the outer marginal portion of the bottom plate is pressed and heated, so as to join them by the fusion thereof. An apparatus suitable for carrying such method into practice includes a rotatable table on which a series of working stations are located for carrying out the process steps by a series of devices for continuously producing plastic cylinderical containers on a mass production basis.

A method of making a return pad for an electrosurgical system comprises the following steps. A first step includes die cutting an electrically conductive foil on a backing using a rotary press to create a foil blank. A second step includes peeling the conductive foil from around the blank, and leaving the blank on its backing. A third step includes layering electrically conductive gel together with the die cut foil to form a layered sheet. A fourth step includes blanking the return pad from the layered sheet using a rotary die. The rotary die has cutting edges and a die packing material adjacent to at least a portion of the edges. The die packing material compresses the gel prior to cutting. The compression is preferably sufficient to cause elastic deformation in the gel so that the gel retracts after being cut. The retraction of the gel leaves a border around the edge of the pad. The border region helps prevent the possibility of the gel coming into electrical contact with an unintended object. One of the advantages of the method of manufacturing disclosed herein is that a continuous rotary process can be used to manufacture electrosurgical return pads. The continuous nature of the process increases the efficiency of the manufacturing operation. The apparatus for using the method is also disclosed.

A method for manufacturing tape tab stock that may be used to produce tape tabs for use with disposable absorbent articles, as well as a method for manufacturing tape tab stock that can be produced on-line and concurrently with the disposable absorbent article to which the tape tabs are joined. The first step in the process is to provide a backing substrate upon which the adhesives of the tape tab can be applied. Once the backing is provided, a pressure sensitive adhesive is applied to regions of one side of the backing substrate. The backing substrate is then slit in a direction parallel to the machine direction and the release surface of a release substrate is placed in contact with the pressure sensitive adhesive, forming a laminate comprising the backing substrate and the release substrate. The release substrate preferably covers the entire surface of the backing substrate upon which pressure sensitive adhesive has been applied. The surface of the laminate, including the surface of the release substrate that is not in contact with the pressure sensitive adhesive, and any of the backing substrate not covered by the release substrate is then coated with a second adhesive for joining the tape tabs to the absorbent article. After the second adhesive is applied to the surface of the laminate, the laminate is slit in a direction parallel to the machine direction and either rewound for shipping or storage, or fed to a taper unit that is integrated into the absorbent article manufacturing line. The taper unit cuts individual tape tabs and applies them to the absorbent article chassis.

The distal edges are unsecured to any underlying structure of the absorbent article in the front and rear waist regions such that the distal edges form the longitudinal edges in the front and rear waist regions. The distal edge of the barrier cuff section is secured laterally inboard of the proximal edge in the crotch region such that the second end edges of the side panels located in the rear waist region are inverted relative to the first end edges to form an inflected barrier cuff that stands up in the crotch region when the absorbent article is fitted to a wearer.

A method for fabricating a refastenable absorbent garment comprises moving a continuous absorbent garment subassembly in a machine direction, wherein the continuous absorbent garment subassembly comprises a continuous front body panel web, a continuous rear body panel web and a plurality of discrete crotch portions spaced along the machine direction and connecting the continuous front and rear body panel webs. The crotch portions are folded in a cross direction with one of the continuous front and rear body panel webs folded over the other of the continuous front and rear body panel webs in the cross direction. The method further comprises successively cutting the continuous front and rear body panels of the continuous absorbent garment subassembly in the cross direction and thereby forming a plurality of discrete absorbent garment subassemblies, each of which comprises a front body panel and a rear body panel, wherein the front and rear body panels are connected with the crotch portion. Each of the front and rear body panels have opposite side edges, wherein the side edges form the leading and trailing edges of the discrete absorbent garment subassemblies in the machine direction. The method further includes successively rotating each of the discrete absorbent garment subassemblies such that the side edges are spaced apart in the cross direction. The method further comprises attaching a fastener member to at least one of the front and rear body panels on each of the discrete absorbent garment subassemblies. An apparatus for fabricating a refastenable absorbent garment includes a product rotator, at least one vacuum conveyor positioned downstream of the product rotator and a fastener applicator positioned downstream of the at least one vacuum conveyor.

A method for manufacturing tape tab stock that may be used to produce tape tabs (40) for use with disposable absorbent articles, as well as a method for manufacturing tape tab stock that can be produced on-line and concurrently with the disposable absorbent article to which the tape tabs (40) are joined. The first step in the process is to provide a backing substrate (52) upon which the adhesives of the tape tab can be applied. Once the backing is provided, a pressure sensitive adhesive (54) is applied to regions of one side of the backing substrate. The backing substrate (52) is then slit in a direction parallel to the machine direction and the release surface of a release substrate is placed in contact with the pressure sensitive adhesive (54), forming a laminate comprising the backing substrate (52) and the release substrate. The release substrate preferably covers the entire surface of the backing substrate (52) upon which pressure sensitive adhesive (54) has been applied. The surface of the laminate, including the surface of the release substrate that is not in contact with the pressure sensitive adhesive (54), and any of the backing substrate (52) not covered by the release substrate is then coated with a second adhesive for joining the tape tabs to the absorbent article. After the second adhesive is applied to the surface of the laminate, the laminate is slit in a direction parallel to the machine direction and either rewound for shipping or storage, or fed to a taper unit that is integrated into the absorbent article manufacturing line. The taper unit cuts individual tape tabs (40) and applies them to the absorbent article chassis.

The first lobe has a first maximum rise along a first direction at substantially a centerline of the front body panel. The opposite first side edges are spaced along a second direction, with the second direction being substantially perpendicular to the first direction. A rear body panel has a second bodyside surface, a second garment side surface, a pair of opposite second side edges, a second waist edge and a second crotch edge defining a second lobe having a second profile in plan view that extends outwardly relative to the second waist edge. The second lobe has a second maximum rise along the first direction at substantially a centerline of the rear body panel. The opposite second side edges are spaced along the second direction. The first lobe of the front body panel is aligned with the second lobe of said rear body panel. A crotch member includes a base panel having opposite side edges and at least a pair of folds extending from the side edges of the base panel. The pair of folds are connected to the first and second garment side surfaces of the front and rear body panels respectively. The crotch member is aligned with and overlaps the first and second lobes of the front and rear body panels respectively on the first and second garment sides thereof. A method of manufacturing a disposable undergarment is also provided.

Filter insert of thermoplastically welded unwoven material is mfd. by a method in which the material is folded to a comblike profile with each outer edge (4, 5) projecting upwards by less than the fold spacing. A sealing strip (8) of width corresp. to the height (7) of the folds is applied along the length on the outer edges and is thermally welded using pressure members (9) supplying energy to the outer edges of the filter material. Welding positions are pressed together during cooling and then the profile is removed and the folded pack is cut to length.
