An embodiment of an electrically trimmable electronic device, wherein a resistor of electrically modifiable material is formed by a first generally strip-shaped portion and by a second generally strip-shaped portion, which extend transversely with respect to one another and are in direct electrical contact in a crossing area. The first and second portions have respective ends connected to own contact regions, coupled to a current pulse source and are made of the same material or of the same composition of materials starting from a same resistive layer of the material having electrically modifiable resistivity, for example, a phase-change material, such as a Ge—Sb—Te alloy, or polycrystalline silicon, or a metal material used for thin-film resistors. The trimming is performed by supplying a trimming current to the second portion so as to heat the crossing area and modify the resistivity thereof, without flowing longitudinally in the first portion.

A method for manufacturing electrodynamic machine conductive coils, such as alternating current induction motor stator coils. A continuous strand of insulation coated wire is formed into a generally planar elongated closed loop having a circumference and an outer surface. Thereafter a permanent insulation layer is applied to the closed loop outer surface, preferably by spiral wrapping insulating tape about the circumference of the closed loop with a tape wrapping machine. The insulating tape has a catalytic chemical compound including at least one part of a multi-part epoxy resin. The closed loop is shaped into a rigid conductive coil by application pressure, in order to conform the coil to a desired profile. Application of the permanent insulation layer to the closed loop prior to its final shaping enables machine insulation taping over a larger portion of the coil circumference and reduces need for slower and more expensive hand taping.

According to the preferred embodiments of the present invention, the flexible-to-rigid tube is included in a cooling plate assembly for transferring heat from electronic components mounted on a circuit board. In one embodiment, the flexible-to-rigid tube (while in a flexible state) includes a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) or other silicone containing pendant or terminal epoxy, vinyl and/or acrylate functional groups and an initiator (e.g., a sulfonium salt photoinitiator, a free radical photoinitiator, or a thermal initiator). In another embodiment, triallyl isocyanurate (TAIC) and an initiator are incorporated into a conventional PVC-based tubing material. The flexible-to-rigid tube changes from the flexible state to a rigid state via formation of a cross-linked network upon exposure to actinic radiation or heat.

A configuration in which fixing is performed by inserting a rear end of a lead shaft member into an attachment hole of an external terminal at the rear of a glow plug and crimping an outer peripheral face of the external terminal. The outer peripheral face of a crimp formation region ( 78 ) of the external terminal ( 70 ) having a polygonal cross section is formed into a crimped portion ( 79 ) provided by round crimping toward a circle, and the external terminal ( 70 ) is fixed to the rear end ( 55 ) of the lead shaft member ( 50 ). Due to the configuration obtained from the round crimping of the polygon, plating breaks and the like are not easily produced in the plating layer on the surface of the external terminal.

Multi-chip LED devices are described. Embodiments of the present invention provide multi-chip LED devices with relatively high efficiency and good color rendering. The LED device includes a plurality of interconnected LED chips and an optical element such as a lens. The optical element may be molded from silicone. The LED chips may be connected in parallel. In some embodiments, the LED device includes a submount, which may be made of a ceramic material such as alumina or aluminum nitride. Wire bonds can be connected to the LED chips so that all the wire bonds tend the outside of a group of LED chips. Various sizes and types of LED chips may be used, including vertical LED chips and sideview LED chips.

The method comprises the steps of mounting ( 4100 ) the light source in thermal contact with the carrier and enclosing ( 4200 ) the light source and the carrier with the envelope. The present invention is advantageous in that it provides a convenient design which facilitates the assembly of the illumination device. Further, the present invention is advantageous in that it provides an illumination device with improved heat transfer.

The method comprises steps of: adhering by suction the light source unit with a back holding jig; bringing the light source unit into contact with a slider back surface of the slider; applying a load to a load application surface of the light source unit by a loading means to bring a joining surface of the light source unit into conformity with the slider back surface; positioning the light source unit apart from the slider, and then aligning the light source with the optical system; bringing again the light source unit into contact with the slider; and applying a load again to the load application surface to bring the joining surface into conformity with the slider back surface. Thus, the conformity between them can be significantly increased, thereby achieving adequately strong junction and adequately high accuracy in position.

Patterns of variable density allow for further tuning the resonators and for individualized tuning of a resonator in an array of resonators. Patterning a reflowable material for the mass load layer, thereby providing a variable pattern density and distribution followed by elevating the temperature of the mass load layer above its melting point causes the material to liquefy and fill into the apertures to redistribute the mass load layer, thereby, upon subsequent cooling, providing resonators with a predetermined desired resonant frequency.

A sheath having sealing and electrical insulating properties may be formed over at least a portion of the components. Hermetic couplings may be made with ordinary blazing or welding. The couplings may instead be made with high temperature brazing or welding which can withstand temperatures equal to or greater than 1500° F. At these temperatures, the sleeve on the flame rod and the sheath may be eliminated.

Seals are formed at the apertures to provide an electrically insulating barrier between the Y-point and the exterior of the enclosure. The cavity may be filled with an insulating material such as potting compound or oil.

An antenna integrally formed with a case according to an aspect of the invention includes: a case unit formed of a dielectric material; a radiator including a radiation unit tightly fixed to an outer surface of the case unit and terminal units each extending from an end portion of the radiation unit, passing through the case unit, and exposed on the inside of the case unit; and contact pins provided on a board disposed adjacent to the case unit and electrically connected to the individual terminal units.

A mechanism is provided for a thermal power plane that delivers power and constitutes minimal thermal resistance. The mechanism comprises a processor layer coupled, via a first set of coupling devices, to a signaling and input/output (I/O) layer and a power delivery layer coupled, via a second set of coupling devices, to the processor layer. In the mechanism, the power delivery layer is dedicated to only delivering power and does not provide data communication signals to the elements of the mechanism. In the mechanism, the power delivery layer comprises a plurality of conductors, a plurality of insulating materials, one or more ground planes, and a plurality of through laminate vias. In the mechanism, the signaling and input/output (I/O) layer is dedicated to only transmitting the data communication signals to and receiving the data communications signals from the processor layer and does not provide power to the elements of the processor layer.
