A copper welding rod is used in an arc-welding operation to form a bead that joins a copper starter sheet and a stainless steel hanger bar. The amperage level of the arc-welding equipment is set to generate heat at the weld site which is above the melting point of copper and below the melting point of stainless steel. This results in a welded joint between the copper bead and the hanger bar and a brazed joint between the copper bead and the starter sheet. Since brazing produces little or no fusion, the area of contact between the two dissimilar metals is limited to the interface between them, which significantly reduces the damaging effects of galvanic corrosion. Another improvement lies in the application of a corrosion- resistant metallic coating on the joint between the hanger bar and the starter sheet using a high velocity oxygen fuel flame spray technique.

A system and method for the rapid exchange of batteries in an electric vehicle. The electric vehicle contains a removable battery housed in the vehicle's undercarriage. The electric vehicle moves through the exchange system either by propelling itself or by being propelled by the system. As the vehicle is propelled forward, the removable battery within the vehicle is unlocked from the vehicle and replaced with a charged battery. The charged battery forces the removable battery out of the rear of the vehicle as the vehicle moves forward through the exchange. The vehicle remains powered throughout the exchange process. Once the charged battery is aligned in position under the vehicle and connected to the vehicle through corresponding contacts, the charged battery is located into place in the vehicle's undercarriage and the vehicle is ready for additional driving.

According to the method for manufacturing electrode sheets, in a first cutting step, an original sheet, including a belt-shaped metal foil and an electrode material coated thereon in a lengthwise direction to form a plurality of coated portions spaced at a predetermined gap, is cut at a location between the coated portions. In a pressing step, the original sheet strips having been cut in the first cutting step are pressed. In this case, the original sheet strips that are pressed by the rolling device are independent from each other. Therefore, the effect produced in rolling of the coated portions remains within each of the original sheet strips. In addition, distortions occurring in the original sheet strips can be prevented from affecting each other and the occurrence of wrinkles can be inhibited.

A manufacturing method of a circuit board and a piezochromic stamp are provided. A circuit pattern is formed on a dielectric substrate. A dielectric layer having a hole or a conductive via and covering the circuit pattern is formed on the dielectric substrate. A conductive seed layer is formed on the dielectric layer. A photoresist layer is formed on the conductive seed layer. A piezochromic stamp is imprinted on the photoresist layer, wherein when the pressing side of the piezochromic stamp is in contact with the conductive seed layer, the light transmittance effect thereof is changed to blocking or allowing light having a specific wavelength to pass through. A patterned photoresist layer is formed by using the piezochromic stamp as a mask. A patterned metal layer is formed on the exposed conductive seed layer. The patterned photoresist layer and the conductive seed layer are removed.

A system and method for the rapid exchange of batteries in an electric vehicle. The electric vehicle contains a removable battery housed in the vehicle's undercarriage. The electric vehicle moves through the exchange system either by propelling itself or by being propelled by the system. As the vehicle is propelled forward, the removable battery within the vehicle is unlocked from the vehicle and replaced with a charged battery. The charged battery forces the removable battery out of the rear of the vehicle as the vehicle moves forward through the exchange. The vehicle remains powered throughout the exchange process. Once the charged battery is aligned in position under the vehicle and connected to the vehicle through corresponding contacts, the charged battery is located into place in the vehicle's undercarriage and the vehicle is ready for additional driving.

An electromagnetic chamber absorber provided improved absorption across a wideband and both lower diffuse and specular scatter and a method for constructing the same. An exemplary device can compromise a periodic arrangement of disconnected electromagnetically lossy elements where the periodicity of the lattice is adjusted to suppress all or most grating lobe scattering. Because the electromagnetically lossy elements are disconnected, scalable manufacturing approaches are enabled. The lossy elements can be easily fabricated via shaping, which includes rolling, folding and cutting resistive and/or magnetic sheet materials. The lossy elements can be repeatably placed in a periodic lattice using low density scaffolding approaches and/or other alignment mechanisms. The absorption at the lower frequency part of the electromagnetic bands (below 1 - 2 GHz) can be improved via the addition of parallel lossy sheets into the low-density scaffolding.

The invention concerns a method for forming a conductive pattern on an insulating substrate and a related apparatus. In the method, particle-type conductive matter is transferred onto a surface of the substrate and the particle-type conductive matter is at least partially sintered at elevated temperature and pressure in order to convert the particle-formed pattern into a continuously conducting pattern affixed to the substrate. According to the invention, the conductive matter is transferred in the form of a predefined pattern, and the sintering is carried out by using a nip comprising two opposing nip members between which the substrate is fed. The method provides an efficient way of making high-resolution conductor structures at low temperatures.
