An error-proofing clip is mounted in the internal tube and has a tongue extending from the end thereof to reach into the external tube and block the insertion of the bolt through the first bolt holes of the external tube until the insertion of the internal tube has proceeded fully to bring the first bolt holes of the external tube and the second bolt holes of the internal tube into alignment with one another, thereby preventing a premature installation of the bolt through only the first bolt holes.

A fastener system for use in removably attaching cover panels to openings in the sides of modules containing equipment on airplane ground support equipment carts, where the fasteners must not come loose to damage airplane engines. At least some modules have a metallic frame defining at least one opening providing access to the module's interior. This frame supports an inwardly recessed shelf around the inside perimeter of the opening. At least one cover panel is sized to fit removably within the opening. The shelf and the panel have aligned holes for fasteners, and the edges of the panel are bent inwards to form standoffs from the shelf. Sets of fasteners each include: a nut having mounted on its surface a hollow, internally-threaded shaft smaller in diameter than the nut, the shaft fitting into the shelf's fastener holes; a bolt having a head shaped to engage a fastener driving tool and having a shaft unthreaded adjacent the head and threaded away from the head, the threads matching the nut shaft's internal threads; and a panel hole liner and bolt support formed as a cylinder sized to be force fitted into the panel's fastener holes, the cylinder having a bottom with a central hole slightly larger in diameter than the unthreaded portion of the bolt shaft such that the bolt is retained within the hole liner free to rotate and to slide up and down but not free to fall out. Each nut shaft is inserted through to extend outwards from a shoulder fastener hole, and each bolt is supported in place by a hole liner forced into a panel fastener hole.

The invention relates to a method of making what may for convenience be regarded as friction joints--that is to say, joints between the touching surfaces of two parts that are held in contact (by a force as experienced in a light interference, not one sufficient to cause forging) and that would otherwise move laterally past one another parallel to the touching plane, the method involving some minimal initial lateral movement of the two surfaces sufficient to cause some asperity deformation, leading to welding and shearing under special conditions--the phenomenon of "galling"--but not sufficient to raise the bulk temperature of either to a level where bulk welding will occur. More specifically, the invention provides a method of securing against lateral motion two bodies (12, 14) held in face-to-face (11, 12) asperity contact, thereby to make a join between the two bodies, in which method there is inserted into the interface between the two bodies a material (15) that on minimal initial lateral relative motion of the two surfaces promotes rapid but controllable "galling" (16) between the two surfaces, this galling binding the surfaces against further such motion.

The cut grooves get narrower as the nuts are coupled with the first male thread of the coupling unit after inserting the steel bar into the coupling unit. Therefore, when the steel bar is coupled with the coupling unit, the first female thread and the second male thread are not in contact with each other while inclined surfaces(516) of each thread of the first female thread and the second male thread are in close contact with each other.
