The collar (5d) which is tightly engaged between the tubular body (1), and the post (7), is slightly deformed so as to receive the post (7) and retain it in place. However, with appropriate equipment the post can be readily removed and replaced, for example, if accidentally damaged.

A fluid-filled resilient bushing structure having a resilient member interposed between an inner sleeve and an outer sleeve disposed radially outwardly of the inner sleeve. The resilient member has portions in which are formed plural fluid chambers which are filled with an incompressible fluid and held in communication with each other through an orifice. The resilient bushing structure comprises a non-fixed independent radial stop member of a rigid material accommodated in at least one of the plural fluid chambers and movable in this at least one fluid chamber. The radial stop member is abuttable on surfaces defining the at least one fluid chamber, thereby preventing an excessive displacement of the inner and outer sleeves relative to each other in a radial direction thereof.

This makes it possible to manufacture a shift lever bush 1 having a two-stage spring characteristic at low cost.

A flex pin includes an elongated rigid locking member having an elongated lateral recess formed therein. An elongated rigid wedge member is intersecured to the locking member by means of a spaced series of elastomeric segments positioned in the recess, and is laterally movable into the recess against the resilient resistance of the elastomeric segments. The wedge member has a longitudinally intermediate portion which is engageable by a forward side surface of the adapter nose opening and is interlockable therewith, and a pair of rearwardly swept outer end portions which underlie opposite end surfaces of the locking member recess and are engageable therewith as the flex pin is being driven into its installed position to prevent shearing of the elastomeric segments. A device for interchanging tools on a mechanical manipulator arm includes a male locking cone unit, a female receptacle cone unit and a motor unit. The male locking cone unit has 3, 6 or 12 equal size balls captured in a male conical cage to extend through its external surface. The female receptacle cone unit that carries a tool includes a dished member having an internal conical surface mating with the external surface of the locking cone, a groove in the conical surface contoured to embrace portions of the balls positioned therein and lands in the groove dividing it into 8 sections of substantially equal length. The lands prevent the balls when in the groove from moving from one of the sections to another. The motor unit, which axially connects via a power take off system with the tool to operate it, is mounted on the female receptacle cone unit.

ABSTRACT A constant-tension spring device for the accessory belt of an automobile engine. The device includes a cylinder having an elastomer ring mounted within each of its ends. A rod passes through each elastomer ring, the rod having spaced shoulders each bearing against one end of a respective elastomer ring. Abutments within the cylinder position and retain the elastomer rings. Upon sufficient axial motion between the rod and cylinder, the elastomer rings are distorted by twisting and display a flat segment of the load vs. deflection curve between the rod and cylinder. The spring device maintains a desired tension within the accessory belt, compensating for temperature, humidity, and ageing changes in belt length which would otherwise result in change of belt tension.

A disk screen or like shaft structure is disclosed in which screen disks (14), surround disks (24), and spacers (28) are connected together in modular relation. The surround disks (24) have metallic flanges (25) which shield the plastic spacers (28) which are located on either side of the surround disks (24) between the screen disks (14). The spacers (28) are formed of resilient plastic to allow the disks to deflect from their radial plane and the flanges (25) of the surround disks (24) are sufficiently smaller then the spacers (28) to avoid contact with the screen disks (14) in their deflected positions. The assembly is placed under a predetermined endwise compression and the module is mounted on a rectangular shaft (27) which is suitably supported for rotation. A joint prosthesis for replacing a damaged or diseased joint between two or more skeletal members, including a distal joint component formed with a sleeve connected to a stem adapted to mount to one skeletal member, a proximal joint component having a housing connected to a stem adapted to mount to an adjoining skeletal member, and a hinge element comprising a hollow cylinder, a pin disposed within the cylinder and a layer of elastomeric material bonded therebetween. The joint components are pivotally interconnected by inserting the cylinder of the hinging element for rotation within the sleeve of the distal joint component, and fixing the ends of the pin of the hinging element to the housing of the proximal joint component so that the distal joint component is pivotal about the hinging element relative to the proximal joint component. The elastomeric material within the hinging element cushions the stems from shock, impact and lateral and compressive loads applied to the joint prosthesis to lessen the magnitude of the loads transmitted to the connection between the stems and skeletal members.

PIVOT JOINT ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved pivot joint has a rotatable and tiltable stud. A rotational preload force is applied to the stud by a bearing which is circumferentially stressed in tension to apply a clamping force to the stud. This clamping force resists rotation of the stud relative to a housing until a predetermined minimum rotational force is applied to the stud. A tilting or sidewise preload force is applied to the stud by a resiliently compressible bushing which is disposed between the bearing and the housing. Since the tilting preload force is applied to the stud by the bushing, the bearing can be designed to provide an optimum rotational preload force without regard to tilting preload force design considerations. Similarly, the bushing can be designed to provide optimum tilting preload forces without regard to design considerations influenced by the rotational preload forces. The pivot joint is advantageously assembled by resiliently expanding the bearing, moving the stud into alignment with the bearing then releasing the bearing so that it contracts part way back to its initial condition The diameter of the stud surface engaged by the bearing is large enough so that the bearing cannot fully retract back to its initial condition. This results in tension stresses being set up in the bearing so that it applies a clamping force against the stud to hold it against rotation. In one embodiment of the invention the bearing is provided with projections which limit sideward tilting movement of the stud.

The invention is designed to prevent squeaking noises between the friction partners when there is reciprocal relative movement, and to require minimal expenditure of time and energy for construction and assembly. The invention provides in each case for the one rim part to have an even edge surface and for the other rim part to have an uneven friction surface, with elevations only abutting on the one friction surface and with depressions situated inbetween. An application is particularly suited for motor-vehicle window-lifting drives and can be used between the worm wheel and over a tangentially elastic damping liner, giving a reciprocal, radial bracing of the slave disc which is in a slaving relationship.

The top mount includes a cross bar which has a wedged-shaped cross section with the upper and lower surfaces thereof converging in the direction of propeller thrust, which is supported by a resilient bushing within a casing, and which has outer ends extending from the casing transversely to the direction of propeller thrust for connectlon to a swivel bracket. The lower mounts are mounted in laterally spaced recesses provided in the drive shaft housing. Each of the lower mounting units includes an insert which has a wedge-shaped cross section with the upper and lower surfaces thereof diverging in the direction of forward pro-peller thrust and which is supported by a pair of resilient pads disposed between a pair of spacer members which fit snugly into opposed grooves provided in each drive shaft housing recess.

The mounting arrangement includes an upper mount and a pair of lower mounts secured to the propulsion unit in vertically spaced relation and rearwardly of or behind the drive shaft. The top mount includes a cross bar which has a wedged-shaped cross section with the upper and lower surfaces thereof converging in the direction of propeller thrust, which is supported by a resilient bushing within a casing, and which has outer ends extending from the casing transversely to the direction of propeller thrust for connection to a swivel bracket. The lower mounts are mounted in laterally spaced recesses provided in the drive shaft housing. Each of the lower mounting units includes an insert which has a wedge-shaped cross section with the upper and lower surfaces thereof diverging in the direction of forward propeller thrust and which is supported by a pair of resilient pads disposed between a pair of spacer members which fit snugly into opposed grooves provided in each drive shaft housing recess.

An improved pivot joint has a rotatable and tiltable stud. A rotational preload force is applied to the stud by a bearing which is circumferentially stressed in tension to apply a clamping force to the stud. This clamping force resists rotation of the stud relative to a housing until a predetermined minimum rotational force is applied to the stud. A tilting or sidewise preload force is applied to the stud by a resiliently compressible bushing which is disposed between the bearing and the housing. Since the tilting preload force is applied to the stud by the bushing, the bearing can be designed to provide an optimum rotational preload force without regard to tilting preload force design considerations. Similarly, the bushing can be designed to provide optimum tilting preload forces without regard to design considerations influenced by the rotational preload forces. The pivot joint is advantageously assembled by resiliently expanding the bearing, moving the stud into alignment with the bearing then releasing the bearing so that it contracts part way back to its initial condition. The diameter of the stud surface engaged by the bearing is large enough so that the bearing cannot fully retract back to its initial condition. This results in tension stresses being set up in the bearing so that it applies a clamping force against the stud to hold it against rotation. In one embodiment of the invention the bearing is provided with projections which limit sideward tilting movement of the stud.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Hülse, insbesondere Außenhülse für ein Elastomerlager (3), mit einem ringförmigen, einen Schlitz (S1) aufweisenden Hülsenteil (1), wobei das Hülsenteil (1) ein erstes äußeres Hülsenteil (1) bildet und koaxial zu einem zweiten, inneren Hülsenteil (2) angeordnet ist, welches ebenfalls einen Schlitz (S2) aufweist. Das äußere Hülsenteil (1) ist auf seiner Innenumfangsfläche (I1) und das innere Hülsenteil (2) auf seiner Innenumfangsfläche (I2) und auf seiner Außen- umfangsfläche (O2) jeweils mit einer Haftvermittlerschicht (HS1, HS2) versehen. Die Schlitze (S1, S2) der Hülsenteile (1, 2) sind versetzt zueinander angeordnet.

A joint mechanism for a mowing machine which can be easily assembled and disassembled, including a support member of a casing which houses a cylindrical damper, which prevents vibration of a power unit from being transmitted to a rod, a holder in which the rod is inserted, and a clamp, which clamp prevents the damper and the holder from unintentionally separating from the support member, being inserted therein. The clamp has a flexible arm which extends in the direction of an output shaft of a power unit, and an engagement hook is formed on the tip of the arm. An engagement hole which the engagement hook of the clamp engages is provided on the support member.

A shift lever assembly includes a noise and vibration damper. A first shift lever member has a first end adapted to be grasped by a vehicle driver and a second end connected to the damper. A second shift lever member has a first end connected to the vehicle transmission and a second end connected to the damper. A hollow housing is provided having a first end to which an end of the first shift lever member is secured, and a second end which is open and in which an end of the second shift lever member is received. Rigid outer and inner sleeves are disposed within the housing and spaced radially from each other. An end of the second shift lever member extends through the second, open end of the housing and is received within the inner sleeve. A layer of a noise and vibration dampening material, such as rubber, is disposed between the inner sleeve and the outer sleeve. A rod extends through aligned apertures formed in the housing, the outer sleeve, the inner sleeve and the second shift lever member to retain both sleeves and the end of the second shift lever member within the housing.
