A collaborative approach, incorporating a server for data transmission, security verification, and authentication verification, is implemented between a dental office and a dental laboratory to fabricate a designed dental restoration. A scanner is used in a dental office to take a scan of a patient's mouth. The dental laboratory designs the dental restoration with specialized design software taking into account the scan of the mouth as well as a prescription from the dental office. The parameters defining the designed dental restoration are contained in a design file. The design file is used to create milling specifications defining instructions for milling the designed dental restoration. The materials for the dental restoration are loaded into a mill, where the dental restoration is fabricated in accordance with the milling specifications. Security verification ensures authorized materials are used, and authentication verification ensures authorized materials and processes are used.

The embodiments described herein relate to methods, systems, and structures for cutting a part to form a highly reflective and smooth surface thereon. In some embodiments, the part includes substantially horizontal and vertical surfaces with edges and corners. In described embodiments, a diamond cutter is used to cut a surface of the part during a milling operation where the diamond cutter contacts the part a number of times with each rotation of the spindle of a milling machine. The diamond cutter has a cutting edge and a land. The cutting edge cuts the surface of the part and the land burnishes the surface of the part to form a highly reflective and smooth surface. Thus, the diamond cutter cuts and burnishes portions of the part, thereby eliminating a subsequent polishing step.

In another, a single phase varying signal is generated and phase compared with a constant phase signal. A number of alternative embodiments are disclosed for indicating the speed of the rotating workpiece including a novel digitizer which also provides a steady state signal indicative of workpiece rotational speed.

Abstract Of The Present Invention A woodworking machine has a series of stations spaced along a conveyor having a clamp support for holding flat wood parts and passing the edges through the stations which include cope stations as well as others. The coping stations have a tool unit with a stack of tools mounted on a common spindle. The tools in each stack at the several stations are interrelated such that the cuts of the individual tools can be combined to form different final profiles in a wood part moving through the several stations. The particular cuts in the profile line are analyzed and interrelated to define basic cuts which can be combined to form the final profiles. One tool of each tool stack provides a particular cut, and by precise positioning of the individual tools, the combination of sequential cuts provide the final profile. Each tool may form a complete cut, may overlap a previous cut to form a continuation of such previous cut or may form a cut which includes only a portion of its cutting face. Computer aided design technology may be used. The machine significantly reduces the tooling costs by significantly reducing the number of tools and the complexity of the tools required for producing a product profile line. Each tool includes a support on the spindle with a cutting tip, many of which are basic presently used tips having flat edges and the like. The tool position control includes an absolute positioning system including a computer in closed loop control program. The control unit establishes precise orientation to form a continuous profile from different tools.

FIELD: process engineering. SUBSTANCE: proposed device comprises part spindle, tool spindle and multiple drives for bevel gear machining. To increase precision of gear wheels, said device is equipped with measurement system connected therewith via interface that receives corrections or correction factors from measurement system in the form that allows adapting reference or mean data prestored in device memory prior to machining one or several bevel gears. Proposed method comprises presetting reference or mean data describing bevel gear shape for its commercial production, and machine tool kinematics. It comprises machining one tooth space between trial billet and relative displacement of tool and said trial billet to remove tool from said space. Trial billet is revolved to another angular position for another tooth space to be machined by repeating above jobs. Note here that said jobs are repeated unless all tooth spaces are machined to for trial billet to be shifted into measurement system to define division error for all trail billet teeth. It comprises also determination of corrections for each tooth or tooth space. Note also that one tooth or tooth space is used as reference tooth or tooth space. It comprises also transmission or reception of corrections and adaptation of machine tool data for production of at least one bevel gear with compensated division errors. Finally, it comprises finishing at least one bevel gear with compensated division errors using adapted machine tool data. Note here that said jobs are repeated unless all spaces and teeth are machine with compensated division errors. Apparatus for cutting successive contiguous segments of a lay-up of sheet material 12 has a table 14, an endless conveyor 18 to position the lay-up in the cutting zone of the table, and a carriage assembly 30, 24 which moves a cutting mechanism 32, 34 relative to the table in cutting engagement with the lay-up to cut patterns in response to a programmable controller 28. An encoder 40 on the carriage assembly detects movement of the latter, relative to the conveyor, returning to its starting position after a cutting cycle, and response means 42 energises the conveyor drive motor 20 in response to the detected movement to move the lay-up in the return direction through a distance related to that traversed by the returning carriage assembly, whereby the next segment of the lay-up is accurately positioned on the table. Error sensing means 43 detects an error in positioning the lay-up and alters the data in the controller to nullify the error.

A cam machining apparatus are arranged such that: in a cam machining tool, oscillating motion is rendered between a work piece and a rotating tool in a manner that the center of the rotating tool stays on the normal line at a working point where the rotating tool and the work piece contact each other without making the working point shift, so that a cam can be machined with high accuracy of working without the cam contour being deformed even if the diameter of tool is changed, uniform finishing can be rendered along all the circumference of the cam face by keeping the speed of working substantially constant along all the circumference of the cam face, whereby high working accuracy can be obtained.
