Holzwerkstücke weisen üblicherweise Fehler auf, die vor dem Einlauf in eine Säge markiert werden. Anhand der Markierungen wird die Schnittposition festgelegt, an der die Werkstücke mit dem Sägeblatt gesägt werden müssen. Damit das Aussortieren der Abfallteile mit hoher Leistung und Genauigkeit durchgeführt werden kann, werden die von der Säge abgetrennten Werkstückteile mittels einer Beschleunigungsrolle beschleunigt vom Sägenbereich weggefördert. Dadurch können aufeinanderfolgende, jeweils abgesägte Werkstückteile rasch nacheinander durch die Vorrichtung transportiert werden. Die Vorrichtung wird zum Sägen von Holzwerkstücken eingesetzt. The cut cycle allows the product feed to keep moving in a continuous manner on conveyors. For ground meat, this system can allow production rates of 150 pieces or more per minute per conveyor line and can improve the accuracy of portioning. The blade is actuated by a profiled cam set that pulls the blade down, and then returns it with a spring to an upper position. The knife assembly can accelerate just after cutting to reduce the potential for sticking to the cut product.

Shingling of paperboard sheets cut from a web with a helical blade cutoff knife utilizes the downward deflection of the trailing edge of the cut sheet and simultaneous lifting of the leading edge of the web to position the sheets for shingling immediately downstream of the knife. A vacuum outfeed conveyor takes advantage of the initial downward deflection of the sheet caused by cutting to pull the trailing edge of the sheet onto the vacuum conveyor which is simultaneously slowed relative to the lead edge of the advancing web. In the preferred embodiment, vacuum is continuously applied and the conveyor is accelerated back to line speed as soon as the leading end of the web is pulled onto the vacuum conveyor.

A method for transferring rod sections from a flying shears to a cooling bed via a run-in table wherein electromagnetic coils are placed in hollow rollers at a downstream end of the run-in table to pull the leading ends of the rods onto the rollers and prevent bouncing of the rods whereafter braking force is applied to the trailing end of the rods before the rods are lifted by a lifting apron for transfer to the cooling bed. The rollers containing the electromagnetic coils are hollow and detachable to gain access to the interior of the rollers and the electromagnetic coils therein.

An input conveyor, output conveyor, and knife assembly with a blade between the input and output conveyors all reciprocate back and forth as a blade moves perpendicular to the conveyors to cut portioned sized of product, such as ground meat. The cut cycle allows the product feed to keep moving in a continuous manner on conveyors. For ground meat, this system can allow production rates of 150 pieces or more per minute per conveyor line and can improve the accuracy of portioning. The blade is actuated by a profiled cam set that pulls the blade down, and then returns it with a spring to an upper position. The knife assembly can accelerate just after cutting to reduce the potential for sticking to the cut product.

The present invention is directed to an apparatus and method wherein bottom blanks for containers are severed from a web feed roll and subsequently transferred at a compatible speed and spacing to final forming mandrels on which finished containers are to be formed. The bottom blanks are tangentially transferred from a first transfer turret at a final velocity and spacing most desirable for cutting and minimizing scrap to a second transfer turret at a second velocity and spacing and thereafter tangentially transferred to the final forming mandrels. Subsequently, preprinted rectangular blanks of longitudinally stretch-oriented foam sheet material formed into cylinders are transferred onto the final forming mandrels. Thereafter, the bottom blanks the cylindrical blanks and the final forming mandrels are heated to shrink the cylindrical blanks so that they assume the shape of the final forming mandrels. The top curl on containers such as drinking cups and food tubs is formed after shrink forming. Further, the bottom seam of the container is reinforced by ironing after shrink forming.

A versatile high speed slicing machine moves first and second food loaves along parallel loaf paths into a slicing station where both loaves are sliced by a cyclically driven knife blade. There are independent loaf feed drives so that slices cut from one loaf may be thicker than slices from the other. The conveyor/transfer system onto which food loaves are deposited as cut includes a receiver located below the slicing station; a lift mechanism moves the receiver down during slicing so that slices always fall about the same distance after being cut. The receiver includes a horizontal conveyor that periodically discharges groups of food loaf slices onto a deceleration conveyor, from which the groups are fed onto a multi-belt scale conveyor. The scale conveyor is aligned with two receiver grids, each grid including plural grid elements interleaved one-for-one with the scale conveyor belts. In each machine cycle a group of food loaf slices is deposited on a grid and weighed. Two slice groups are usually weighed individually and simultaneously. The group weights control two classifier transfer conveyors.

Shingling of paperboard sheets cut from a web (17) with a helical blade cutoff knife (10) utilizes the downward deflection of the trailing edge of the cut sheet and simultaneous lifting of the leading edge of the web to position the sheets for shingling immediately downstream of the knife. A vacuum outfeed conveyor (25) takes advantage of the initial downward deflection of the sheet caused by cutting to pull the trailing edge of the sheet onto the vacuum conveyor which is simultaneously slowed relative to the lead edge of the advancing web. In the preferred embodiment, vacuum is continuously applied and the conveyor is accelerated back to line speed as soon as the leading end of the web is pulled onto the vacuum conveyor.

An apparatus for diverting and delivering sheets in which the sheets are positively controlled throughout the entire operation. Initially, a continuous web of paper passes between opposing cylinders comprising a rotary cutter. The lead edge of the web is then engaged by a pair of opposed nip rollers. Once held by these nip rollers, the rotary knife cuts a separate sheet from the front of the continuous web. The separate sheet then passes between and is accelerated by the nip rollers whereupon a dual set of diverting cams, in combination with a pair of conveyors, directs the sheet to one of two delivery systems. The next subsequent sheet is directed to the other delivery system so that each successive sheet is alternately diverted between the two delivery systems. Upon exiting either delivery system, the sheet is subjected to a snubbing means which decelerates the sheet and further allows the next subsequent sheet to overlap the previous sheet before being similarly decelerated. The shingled sheets are then transmitted by conveyor to a subsequent processing operation.

In operation, when the leading edge of an original is detected by a switch 18, the rollers 32, 40 are rotated. When the trailing edge of the original is sensed by a switch 19, the rollers 32 are stopped by a brake 32A, the cutter 43 severs the material 29, and the roller 42 is moved away from the plate 41, so that the rollers 40 can continue to feed the severed sheet while the latter assumes a straighter path between the guides 38, 39. The roller 42 may be replaced by a movable plate 42C, Fig. 2. The material may be fed selectively from one of three rolls 20, 21, 22 of different width, through respective guides 35, 36, 37 into the common guide 38.

The second conveyor (6) is arranged between the clamping device (4) and the cutting device (5). Its transport roller (6a) has a surface layer (8) with the highest possible coefficient of friction with the paper web (P). The lifting device (9) is designed or can be controlled in such a way that the pressure rollers (6b) are lifted from the transport roller (6a) shortly before the paper web is stretched when the loop (20) is undone.

Linerless labels are cut or burst from a web (W) by passing the web (W) through infeed and outfeed pairs of rolls (12, 14; 30, 32) with a separator device located therebetween. Each roll pair includes a friction surface for engaging the slick smooth surface (S) of the web and another roll with a silicone elastomeric or plasma-coated surface for engaging substantially without gripping the exposed adhesive side (A) of the linerless label web (W). In the cutting mode, a rotary blade severs (42) the web against a fixed blade (40) to form the label. The infeed rolls (12, 14) are backed up after each cut to break the adhesive bond between the web (W) and the fixed blade (40) and then reverse to advance through the cutting position and into the outfeed rolls (30, 32) for a subsequent cutting operation. The outfeed rolls (30, 32) continue to advance the cut linerless label to a receiving station. In a bursting mode, the web (W) is perforated and a roller breaker bar (80) is disposed between the infeed and outfeed rolls (12, 14; 30, 32) to break the web (W) along the perforations to form the linerless label.

A compact sheet feeding and cutting apparatus is disclosed which is particularly suitable for retrofitting to an existing document reproduction machine. The sheet feeding and cutting components are located within a common housing which can be mechanically attached to an existing machine. In one embodiment, no electrical connections are required between the reproduction machine and the feeding and cutting apparatus. A sheet cutting length is entered into local memory and controls the operation of a dc stepper motor in a sheet cutting mode and a sheet feeding mode. The motor is reversed and operates in a sheet feeding mode to drive feed rollers causing the sheet to unroll from a supply roll. The motor is operatively connected to the drive feed rollers and to the sheet cutter through separate, one-way clutches. The sheet is fed from the roll at a faster speed than the speed of sheet travel within the reproduction machine as it advances to a transfer station. This speed mismatch periodically creates a buckle in the moving sheet which contacts a switch causing it to open and close. The switch thus controls an on/off operation of the motor changing it from a sheet feeding mode into a sheet cutting mode.

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An apparatus for diverting and delivering sheets in which the sheets are positively controlled throughout the entire operation. Initially, a continuous web of paper passes between opposing cylinders comprising a rotary cutter. The lead edge of the web is then engaged by a pair of opposed nip rollers. Once held by these nip rollers, the rotary knife cuts a separate sheet from the front of the continuous web. The separate sheet then passes between and is accelerated by the nip rollers whereupon a dual set of diverting cams, in combination with a pair of conveyors, directs the sheet to one of two delivery systems. The next subsequent sheet is directed to the other delivery system so that each successive sheet is alternately diverted between the two delivery systems. Upon exiting either delivery system, the sheet is subjected to a snubbing means which decelerates the sheet and further allows the next subsequent sheet to overlap the previous sheet before being similarly decelerated. The shingled sheets are then transmitted by conveyor to a subsequent processing operation.

A sheet diverter apparatus diverts sheets into alternate paths by guiding the leading portion of each sheet through a gap (23) in a horizontal conveyor into alternate diverter belt conveyor units (11, 12) where the sheet is firmly grasped for transfer. The one conveyor unit (11) is a horizontal unit having a top belt conveyor (20) and a bottom belt conveyor (22), one of which is offset downstream to form a diverting gap (23). The linear or surface speed of the diverter cam (15) is greater than the linear speed of the sheet. The cam surface (16a) is constructed with a low friction surface such as provided by a low friction plastic coating (44). An air cushion (45) may be created between the cam face of the diverter (30) and the sheet.
