The saw is laterally and pivotally adjustable to follow the determined path established by the computer. The saw is a plurality of circular saw blades having a defined cutting edge portion that is inclined from a leading point at the bottom of the cant to a trailing point at the top of the cant. The point of pivot of the saws is between the leading point and the trailing point of the cutting edge portion. The saw assembly is mounted on pads having a low coefficient of friction. Pressurized air and lubricant are delivered to the pads to reduce the friction.

An improved blind cutting machine has a work surface on which a blind to be cut is placed and at least one end stop against which an end of the blind to be cut rests prior to being cut by a cutting mechanism. An actuator is connected to the end stop. The actuator moves the end stop relative to the work surface and the cutting mechanism in response to signals from a controller. An operator enters information about the blind to be cut and the dimensions of an opening over which the blind to be cut is to be mounted into the controller. The controller then calculates the location where the end stop should be so that a sufficient amount of material can be trimmed from an end of the blind to be cut to enable the blind to fit the opening. Then the controller sends a signal to the actuator that causes the actuator to move the end stop to that location. In alternative embodiments the end stop is fixed and the actuator moves the cutting mechanism or a work surface on which the blind to be cut has been placed.

The clamp assembly and the shear assembly each has an electric motor driving a linear actuator (e.g., a drive screw) which is operatively coupled to its respective load member. A spring or a pair of springs is interposed between the clamp load member and the clamp member and another spring or a pair of springs is interposed between the shear blade and the shear load member. Thus, as the clamp member engages the book and as the shear blade shears through the book and engages the anvil, further movement of the clamp member and the shear blade is prevented. Continued operation of the motors causes these springs to compress and to thus result in differential movement (lost motion) between the clamp member and the clamp load member and between the shear blade and the shear load member. Operation of the motors is terminated upon this differential motion of a predetermined magnitude being sensed.

A slicing station for a high speed food loaf slicing machine that slices one, two, or more food loaves simultaneously using one cyclically driven knife blade; the slices are stacked or shingled in groups on a receiving conveyor located below the slicing station. Independent loaf feed drives are provided so that slices cut from one loaf may be thicker than slices from the other. The slicing station, enclosed by a housing except for a limited slicing opening, includes a knife blade having an elongated arcuate cutting edge and a drive that moves the knife blade at a predetermined cyclic rate along a closed cutting path through the slicing range, which range intersects the ends of food loaves fed at predetermined rates into the slicing station. A marker moving with the blade is sensed by a fixed sensor to establish a home position for the blade. There is a honing device to sharpen the cutting edge of one type of blade, with the blade in its home position. A pressure seal is provided to preclude entry of hot water or steam into the slicing station during cleanup. A door mechanism closes off the slicing opening when no food loaf slices are to be cut.

The stud is engaged to one end of the links and the rods are engaged to a respective other end of the links such that a movement of the stud inwardly pivots the links to draw the second orifice-defining member toward the first orifice-defining member.

A ribbon separation tool (10) for separating optical fiber ribbons (C1,C2,C3) into subsets of optical fibers. Ribbon separation tool (10) includes a stationary shearing device (27), and a moveable shearing device (17), the moveable shearing device (17) is operative to move relative to the stationary shearing device (27) during a shearing stroke. Optical fiber ribbon support members (42), with optical fiber ribbon receiving slots (46) being defined therebetween, are adjacent shearing devices (17,27). Moveable shearing device (17) is moveable located between optical fiber ribbon support members (42) and includes moveable sub-slots (90a,90b,90c). When a cover member (26) of tool (10) is in a closed position, stationary sub-slots (92a,92b,92c) of stationary shearing device (27) are aligned with moveable sub-slots (90a,90b,90c) to define shearing slots (90a,92a;90b,92b;90c,92c). Shearing slots (90a,92a;90b,92b;90c,92c) are each sized to receive a respective optical fiber ribbon (C1,C2,C3), and each shearing slot straddles a shearing plane (M) defined between shearing devices (17,27). When tool (10) is actuated by pushing a pusher member (52) to an actuated position, ribbon (C1) will be separated into two 6-fiber subsets, ribbon (C2) will be separated into one 4-fiber and one 8-fiber subset, and ribbon (C3) will be separated into one 2-fiber subset and one 10-fiber subset. With pusher member (52) in the actuated position, optical fiber ribbons (C1,C2,C3) are then moved lengthwise whereby ribbons (C1,C2,C3) are separated lengthwise. Figures 4, 10, 14, and 15.

Dans cette installation, le profilé en acier peut être amené et mobilisé sur le dispositif de transport vers la scie circulaire dans différentes positions de sciage. Les rouleaux presseurs (8) associés aux rouleaux entraîneurs (7) peuvent être actionnés indépendamment l'un par rapport à l'autre. Un profilé en acier (1) à scier est toujours enserré entre au moins un rouleau entraîneur (7) et le rouleau presseur (8) associé et en contact avec au moins un galet de mesure (9) qui maintient la valeur de mesure respective. Les éléments décrits sont disposés dans le même bâti de machine à des distances aussi faibles que possible les uns par rapport aux autres dans la direction de transport du profilé en acier (1) à scier.
