A method for extending the time before a steam generator overflows under an accident condition, related to the field of pressurized water reactor nuclear plant accident response method, comprising the following steps: step one: occurrence of an accident that causes all auxiliary feedwater pumps to be activated; step two: shutdown of the auxiliary water pumps; and, step three: determination of whether or not the auxiliary feedwater pumps need to be reactivated. By adding a protection control signal, the method automatically adjusts the flow of an auxiliary feedwater supply to the steam generator, and extends the time before the steam generator overflows under the premise that reactor core safety is ensured, thus extending the time for non-intervention to the accident by an operator, and reducing operator errors.
