The invention discloses a preparation method and application of a MnS material with bacteriostatic activity. The preparation method comprises the following steps: (1) mixing manganese chloride, sodium hydroxide, sodium polysulfide, polyvinylpyrrolidone and ultrapure water, stirring until the materials are completely dissolved, heating to react, cooling, centrifugally separating a reaction solution, cleaning a solid, and drying in vacuum to obtain alpha-MnS; the preparation method comprises the following steps: mixing manganese carbonate, sodium sulfide nonahydrate and ultrapure water, stirring until complete dissolution, heating to react, cooling, centrifugally separating a reaction solution, cleaning a solid, and drying in vacuum to obtain gamma-MnS.
