Disclosed are a method for catalytic cracking a hydrocarbon oil and a system therefor. The method comprises a step of bringing a hydrocarbon oil raw material into contact and reacting same with a catalytic cracking catalyst in a reactor comprising a dilute phase transport bed and a fast fluidized bed that are connected in series, wherein, in the fast fluidized bed, the axial solid fraction ε of the catalyst is controlled in a range of about 0.1 to about 0.2. When used for catalytic cracking a hydrocarbon oil raw material, particularly a heavy raw oil, the method and the system of the present application have a low yield for a dry gas and a coke, and a good product distribution.
