Method and apparatus for preparing an arene and an olefin by means of catalytic hydrogenation coupled with catalytic cracking of a bio-fuel. The device comprises a biomass thermal cracking fuel preparation unit (100), a bio-fuel stratification unit (200), a catalytic hydrogenation unit (300), a bio-fuel catalytic cracking unit (400), and a separation and purification unit (500). The bio-fuel stratification unit (200) produces a light fuel and a heavy fuel. The light fuel is hydrogenated in the catalytic hydrogenation unit (300) to obtain a liquid product, and the liquid product is mixed with the heavy fuel from the bio-fuel stratification unit (200), followed by catalytic cracking. The resulting products are separated and purified to give a high-purity arene and olefin. The present invention achieves complete catalytic hydrogenation and catalytic cracking of all components of a bio-fuel, and avoids loss of catalytic properties due to catalyst coking.
