A method for directly growing an ultrathin porous graphene separation membrane. The method comprises: (1) coating, on a metal foil, an etching agent, an organic solvent, and a high-molecular polymer, performing calcination at a high temperature under an oxygen-free condition, and removing the metal substrate and reaction products, so as to obtain a single-layer or multi-layer porous graphene separation membrane; or (2) coating a solution of an etching agent or a dispersion solution on a metal foil, then covering a layer of organic high-molecular polymer thin film, performing calcination at a high temperature under an oxygen-free condition, and removing the metal substrate and reaction products, so as to obtain a single-layer or multi-layer porous graphene separation membrane.
