A method of making a semiconductor device , comprising:providing a substrate;providing a semiconductor die;mounting the semiconductor die to the substrate;forming a recess in a back surface of the semiconductor die to an edge of the semiconductor die with sidewalls on at least two sides of the semiconductor die;forming a thermal interface material in the recess; andmounting a heat spreader in the recess with a down leg portion of the heat spreader thermally connected to the substrate, wherein the sidewalls contain the thermal interface material to maintain uniform coverage of the thermal interface material between the heat spreader and back surface of the semiconductor die.2. Disclosed is a method for preparing a high-viscosity polyalphaolefin, chiefly useful as an industrial oil, with high yield under conditions of the room temperature and atmospheric pressure, the method including: prepolymerizing 1-decene or 1-dodecene using a catalyst composed of ethyl aluminum dichloride (EADC) and t-butyl chloride (TBC) to obtain a prepolymer, and bringing 1-octene into contact with the prepolymer used as a catalyst under conditions of the room temperature and atmospheric pressure. Using the method makes it possible to prepare a high-viscosity polyalphaolefin from 1-octene less expensive than 1-decene or 1-dodecene, the polyalphaolefin having a kinetic viscosity of at least 90 cSt at 40 °C and a viscosity index of at least 135 to overcome the problem with a low-viscosity polyalphaolefin from 1-decene or 1-dodecene.

The present invention relates to method and apparatus of converting a series of data words into modulated signals. This method divides a data word, which a sync signal is to be added in front or rear of when it is written in a recording medium, into two or more word segments, generates for each word segment a number of intermediate sequences by combining mutually different digital words with that word segment, scrambles these intermediate sequences to form alternative sequences, translates each alternative sequence into a (d,k) constrained sequence, checks how many undesired sub-sequences are contained in each (d,k) constrained sequence, and selects one (d,k) constrained sequence for recording on an optical or magneto-optical recording medium among the (d,k) constrained sequences not having the undesired sub-sequence. Applying this method to a modulating device, DSV control can be conducted by much simpler hardware.
