The electrode assembly, coupled to the RF driver, receives an RF signal from the RF driver. The RF signal applied to the electrode assembly induces a plasma discharge within the electrode assembly and effluent line. A detector coupled to the electrode assembly detects an end point of a chamber clean of the process chamber. The end point may be detected based on a change in impedance associated with the plasma discharge within the electrode assembly and effluent line.

What has been achieved by this invention is a method and design of providing high temperature heat for an endothermic gasifier without combustion using electrical resistance immersion heating element technology. Further, these elements could be heated by three phase electrical power; thus, minimizing the number of electrical leads emerging from the top of the heating elements. This invention solves the difficulty of designing the steam/CO 2 reforming reactor with a large number of densely packed heating elements and the syngas heat recuperator into one reactor. This is done to avoid the extremely hot syngas leaving the reactor from melting the downstream metal fittings carrying the reactor product gases to the downstream piping process.

Passive self-cleaning filtration method and apparatus

A method and apparatus for passive self-cleaning filtration of a liquid containing suspended solids is disclosed. A filter assembly of upright cylindrical filter tubes having open, downwardly-facing ends is placed within a tank of unfiltered liquid. The filter assembly is positioned in the flow of liquid through the tank such that the unfiltered liquid must pass through the filter tubes prior to discharge from the tank. The inner walls of the filter tubes are smooth with small filtering holes. Unfiltered liquid is passes up into the filter tubes and the solids are collected in the tubes and on the smooth walls. Filtered liquid that has passed through the filter tubes is kept separated from the unfiltered liquid by a barrier that functionally prevents passage of unfiltered liquid. The filtered liquid is passed out of the tank. A filter housing protects the filtered liquid and the outside surface of the filter tubes from unfiltered liquid. The solids that have collected in the filter tubes and on the smooth inner walls of the filter fall out of the open, downwardly-facing ends of the filter tubes. The filter housing has a lower chamber below the filter assembly with a sloping floor and an opening for unfiltered liquid to enter the filter housing and accumulated solids to leave the housing. The sloping floor encourages solids that fall out of the filter tubes to move down the slope and out of the housing. The filter assembly may be raised at least partially out of the tank and cleaned by washing the solids down the inside walls of the filter tubes, onto the sloping floor, and back into the unfiltered liquid. The filter assembly may be associated with a pump which pumps filtered liquid from the tank.

Untreated wastewater is introduced to the first chamber through an inlet located near the first end of the baffle. The wastewater flows through the first chamber to a portal at the second end of the baffle and passes through the portal into the second chamber. A wastewater outlet from the tank is located in the second chamber near the first end of the baffle. Wastewater passing through the portal flows through the second chamber to the outlet and out of the tank. The baffle and the shape of the septic tank increase the distance that the wastewater must flow from the inlet to the outlet as compared to a rectangular meander tank with a single baffle.

It also relates to control or elimination of the emissions of greenhouse gases in the power recovery process of this invention with the goal of producing energy in the future carbonless world economy. A New Concept for a duplex kiln was developed that has the combined functionality of steam/CO 2 reforming, heat transfer, solids removal, filtration, and heat recovery. New methods of carbon-sequestering where the syngas produced by steam/CO 2 reforming can be used in Fischer-Tropsch processes that make high-carbon content compounds while recycling the methane and lighter hydrocarbons back to the reformer to further produce syngas at a higher H 2 /CO ratio.

A vehicle mounted storage device for the ball mount and spring/torsion bar component of a trailer weight distribution system when the equipment is not in use. The storage device is comprised of a horizontal channel where the spring bars can be inserted, a vertical channel, where the ball mount can be inserted, and a horizontal tongue separating the two channels. When the spring bars are inserted into the horizontal channel with the heads of the spring bars resting on the tongue area and the ball mount is inserted into the vertical channel with the hitch ball directly above the spring bar heads, the spring bars are securely confined to the device. Once a locking device has been affixed to the ball mount, the device deters theft of the spring bars and ball mount.

The transponder includes an energy coupler for wirelessly energizing the device with a remote energy source, and a control circuit for controlling and accessing the biosensor and for storing identifying data. The energy coupler can be an inductive circuit for coupling electromagnetic energy, a photoelectric transducer for coupling optical energy, or a piezoelectric transducer for coupling ultrasonic energy. The control circuit can be configured to delay, either randomly or by a fixed period of time, transmission of data indicative of the sensed parameter value to thereby prevent a data collision with an adjacent like device. Methods for using an implantable biosensing transponder include the steps of associating the device with an implant, including temporary implants, prostheses, and living tissue implants, physically attaching the device to a flexible catheter, sensing parameter values in an organism, and transmitting data corresponding to the sensed parameter values to a remote reader.

The process and system of the invention converts carbonaceous feedstock such as coal, hydrocarbon oil, natural gas, petroleum coke, oil shale, carbonaceous-containing waste oil, carbonaceous-containing medical waste, carbonaceous-containing hazardous waste, carbonaceous-containing medical waste, and mixtures thereof into electrical energy without the production of unwanted greenhouse emissions. The process and system uses a combination of a gasifier, e.g., a kiln, operating in the exit range of at least 700° to about 1600° C. (1300–2900° F.) to convert the carbonaceous feedstock and a greenhouse gas stream into a synthesis gas comprising mostly carbon monoxide and hydrogen without the need for expensive catalysts and or high pressure operations. One portion of the synthesis gas from the gasifier becomes electrochemically oxidized in an electricity-producing fuel cell into an exit gas comprising carbon dioxide and water. The latter is recycled back to the gasifier after a portion of water is condensed out. The second portion of the synthesis gas from the gasifier is converted into useful hydrocarbon products.
