In order to reach the operating speed of rotation from a standstill, the eccentric shaft (5) must, owing to forces arising from the mass moment of inertia, be accelerated to the number of operating strokes via a starting angle ( alpha B). When the punch press is brought to a standstill, the eccentric shaft (5) is rotated in the operating direction of rotation (13) to a position between the upper dead centre (OT) and the lower dead centre (UT), in which position there is no contact between the upper tool (8) and the metal belt (12). From this position, the eccentric shaft (5) is rotated backwards through the starting angle ( alpha B) to a starting angle position (D). In the starting angular position (D) there is also no contact between the upper tool (8) and the belt (12). There is therefore available for the starting of the punch press a starting angle ( alpha B) which is extended beyond the upper dead centre (OT) so that the first punching operation is executed under the same dynamic conditions of the punch press as the following punching operations, which means that accurate parts are produced on starting, from the very first stroke. <IMAGE>

Die Ausgleichsgewichte (10, 11) sind bei ihren unteren Enden an Lenkern (30) angelenkt. Diese Lenker (30) sind an einem verlängerten Abschnitt von ersten Pleueln (1,2) angelenkt. An entgegengesetzten Enden sind die Ausgleichsgewichte (10, 11) an Umlenkhebeln (5, 6) angelenkt, die ihrerseits am zweiten Pleueln (3, 4) angelenkt sind. Die ersten (1, 2) und die zweiten (3, 4) Pleuel sind auf einer gemeinsamen Exzenterbüchse (16) gelagert. Damit erfolgt der Antrieb der Ausgleichsgewichte (10, 11) nicht von Bauteilen der Maschine her, die unmittelbar mit dem Stössel (34) verbunden ist. Somit können keine Massenkräfte und Schwingungen der Ausgleichsgewichte (10, 11) und dieselben antreibenden Vorrichtungsteile auf den Stössel (34) übertragen werden. Damit wird der Bewegungsablauf des Stössels und somit der Schneid- oder Prägevorgang nicht mehr ungünstig beeinflusst, welches die Güte der jeweiligen Erzeugnisse verbessert. The counterweights (10, 11) are hinged at their lower ends to links (30). These links (30) are articulated on an extended section of first connecting rods (1, 2). At opposite ends, the counterweights (10, 11) are articulated on deflection levers (5, 6), which in turn are articulated on the second connecting rods (3, 4). The first (1, 2) and the second (3, 4) connecting rods are mounted on a common eccentric bush (16). This means that the counterweights (10, 11) are not driven from components of the machine which is directly connected to the tappet (34). Thus, no inertial forces and vibrations of the counterweights (10, 11) and the same driving device parts can be transmitted to the plunger (34). The movement of the ram and thus the cutting or embossing process are no longer adversely affected, which improves the quality of the respective products.

The ram device of the punch press is subdivided into individual, separate ram sections (1, 2, 3). The base-plate device is likewise subdivided into individual base-plate sections (4, 5, 6). Each ram section (1, 2, 3) has a separate balancing device for inertia forces. The individual shaft sections for driving the individual ram sections (1, 2, 3) are merely connected to one another in such a way as to be rigid in terms of rotation but so as to be axially and radially displaceable, in which arrangement deflections of respective shaft sections are also not transmitted to the adjacent shaft sections. Owing to the fact that there are smaller moving masses, the punch press can be operated at a higher rotational speed. The individual inertia forces are much smaller so that the entire punch press can have relatively small dimensions, which has an advantageous effect on deflections. Likewise, loads on one section, which are eccentric with regard to a complete tool, have no effect at all on another section of the machine of modular construction. <IMAGE>

When starting up the punch press its eccentric shaft must accelerate through a start-up angle from the resting state up to the operating speed of rotation due to the forces of inertia of the moving structures of the punch press. When stopping the punch press the eccentric shaft is rotated in the direction of normal operation into a position between the upper dead center and the lower dead center position, in which latter position no contacting between the upper tool and the metal strip to be worked upon takes place. From this position the eccentric shaft is rotated backwards by the start-up angle into a start-up angle position. In the start-up angle position again no contact between the upper tool and the strip takes place. Accordingly, an enlarged start-up angle which has been increased backwards over the upper dead center position is available for the start-up of the punch press, such that the first punching is executed at the same dynamic conditions of the punch press as the next subsequent punching operations, such that when starting the punch press up precise products are produced already by the first stroke.
