The processing window for thermosetting resins that contain particulate hardeners is prolonged using the combined steps of heat-treating the resin to form a low-viscosity resin mixture in which the particles are dissolved and then moulding the low-viscosity resin mixture at temperatures below the dissolution temperature of the particles to infuse a fibrous preform. The infused resin preform is heated to the curing temperature of the resin to provide final curing of the resin. 1. A liquid composite moulding process comprising the steps of:providing an uncured resin mixture comprising a thermosetting resin and a particulate hardener dispersed within said thermosetting resin, said particulate hardener having a dissolution temperature above which said particulate hardener dissolves in said thermosetting resin, said uncured resin being at a pot temperature and having a pot viscosity;heating said uncured resin mixture to a dissolution temperature for a sufficient time to dissolve said particulate hardener and form a heat-treated resin mixture;cooling said heat-treated resin mixture to a temperature below said dissolution temperature to form a low-viscosity resin mixture;introducing said low-viscosity resin mixture into a mould that contains a fibrous structure;maintaining said low-viscosity resin mixture within said mould at a dwell-temperature, which is below said dissolution temperature, for a sufficient dwell-time to infuse said fibrous structure with said low-viscosity resin mixture; andcuring said low-viscosity resin mixture at a cure temperature.2. Use of ventilation air methane exhausted during mining of non-combustible ore in a surface appliance

Utilization of mine methane produced by mining a non-combustible ore, such as trona, as an energy source for heat, steam, and/or power generation. Such utilization is beneficial for a surface appliance which is close to surface outlet(s) of mine methane recovery system(s). A method for reducing greenhouse gas emissions generated during mining of a non-combustible ore uses the combustion of co-produced mine methane. The mine methane is recovered in a mine ventilation air exhaust with very low methane content and may be additionally recovered in a drainage gas, such as gob gas, with much higher methane content. The surface appliance may be selected from the group consisting of calciner, dryer, boiler, kiln, furnace, engine, turbine, power generation unit, co-generation unit, and any combinations thereof. Benefits may include reduction in energy purchases, reduction in greenhouse emissions, and/or gain through sale of carbon credits to the carbon market by registering carbon reductions.

THERMOSETTING RESIN ADHESIVE CONTAINING IRRADIATED THERMOPLASTIC TOUGHENING AGENT

Thermosetting resins are provided that are toughened with an irradiated thermoplastic toughening agent. The resins have reduced levels of solvent-induced micro crack formation and do not lose their adhesiveness when attacked by solvent. Disclosed herein in are methods and systems for determining genetic variants (e.g., copy number variation) in a polynucleotide sample. A method for determining copy number variations includes tagging double-stranded polynucleotides with duplex tags, sequencing polynucleotides from the sample and estimating total number of polynucleotides mapping to selected genetic loci. The estimate of total number of polynucleotides can involve estimating the number of double-stranded polynucleotides in the original sample for which no sequence reads are generated. This number can be generated using the number of polynucleotides for which reads for both complementary strands are detected and reads for which only one of the two complementary strands is detected.

The present disclosure provides a system and method for the detection of rare mutations and copy number variations in cell free polynucleotides. Generally, the systems and methods comprise sample preparation, or the extraction and isolation of cell free polynucleotide sequences from a bodily fluid; subsequent sequencing of cell free polynucleotides by techniques known in the art; and application of bioinformatics tools to detect rare mutations and copy number variations as compared to a reference.
