A device for lighting a room is described. The device has an envelope with a transparent face, the face having an interior surface coated with a cathodoluminescent screen and a thin, reflective, conductive, anode layer. There is a broad-beam electron gun mounted directly to feedthroughs in a base of the envelope with a heated, button-on-hairpin, cathode for emitting electrons in a broad beam towards the anode, and a power supply mounted on the feedthroughs at the base of the envelope that drives the cathode to a multi-kilovolt negative voltage. A two-prong snubber serves as an anode contact to permit the power supply to drive the anode to a voltage near ground. A method of manufacture of the anode uses a single step deposition and lacquering process followed by a metallization using a conical-spiral tungsten filament coated with aluminum by a thermal spray coating process.

A tie-down apparatus securable within a slot of a slotted receiver includes a pedestal, a safety chain connector and a locking member pivotally connected to the safety chain connector. A vertical bore extends through the pedestal and two legs depend from the pedestal body on opposite sides of the bore. Each leg is narrower in width than a width of the slot so that the legs may be inserted widthwise into the slot to prevent the pedestal from rotating in the slot. A method for operating a secure man-in-the-middle proxy , comprising:intercepting an attempt to establish a connection between an application and a network server associated with a whitelisted hostname;establishing a secure connection to the network server;checking the secure connection against a stored combination of certificate, encryption protocol, and encryption cipher for the whitelisted hostname; andforwarding traffic between the application and the network server at the whitelisted hostname if the secure connection matches the stored combination of certificate, encryption protocol, and encryption cipher for the whitelisted hostname.2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising rejecting attempted connections to hostnames not in the whitelist.3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the application is running on the same information handling system as the secure man-in-the-middle proxy.4. Entrained fines containing 15-25% of feed carbon are separated, combined with the char withdrawn at the bottom of the reactor, impregnated with an alkali metal compound or alkaline earth metal compound or their mixture that catalyze gasification reaction, and then gasified catalytically in the second reactor at 730-770°C. Total carbon conversion to a gaseous product mixture with 61-66v/v% hydrogen content is 95-98%.

The present invention concerns methods and apparatus for implementing a true-time-delay wideband digital beamformer. In true-time-delay wideband digital beamformers of the present invention, improved control over beam properties formed by the combination of the beamformer and a multi-element antenna coupled to the beamformer is achieved through finer control of delays imparted to data signals. In beamformers of the present invention, data is delayed using a coarse control that provides a delay in whole increments of a clock cycle of a digital clock reference and a fine control that provides a delay corresponding to a fraction of a whole clock cycle of the digital clock reference. In the true time delay method of the present invention, transmission and reception across a wide frequency band is accommodated. In the true time delay method of the present invention, multiple simultaneous beams are formed independently, beam-to-beam, across a wide frequency band.

A speech recognition system displays a source text of one or more words in a source language. The system has an acoustic processor for generating a sequence of coded representations of an utterance to be recognized. The utterance comprises a series of one or more words in a target language different from the source language. A set of one or more speech hypotheses, each comprising one or more words from the target language, are produced. Each speech hypothesis is modeled with an acoustic model. An acoustic match score for each speech hypothesis comprises an estimate of the closeness of a match between the acoustic model of the speech hypothesis and the sequence of coded representations of the utterance. A translation match score for each speech hypothesis comprises an estimate of the probability of occurrence of the speech hypothesis given the occurrence of the source text. A hypothesis score for each hypothesis comprises a combination of the acoustic match score and the translation match score. At least one word of one or more speech hypotheses having the best hypothesis scores is output as a recognition result.

Electron sources for a cathodoluminescent lighting system are disclosed. An electron source is a broad-beam reflecting-type electron gun having a cathode for emitting electrons and a reflector and/or secondary emitter electrode and no grids. An alternative electron gun has a cathode having a heater welded to a disk, the disk having an emissive surface on a side facing a dome-shaped defocusing grid and an anode. A lighting system incorporating the electron sources has an envelope with a transparent face, an anode with a phosphor layer to emit light through the face and a conductor layer. The system also has a power supply for providing from five to thirty thousand volts of power to the light emitting device to draw electrons from cathode to anode and excite a cathodoluminescent phosphor, and the electrons transiting from cathode to anode are essentially unfocused. A power- factor-corrected embodiment is also disclosed.

An apparatus, in its first, second, and third embodiments, that is intended to be temporarily attached to the soles of ski boots, whenever the wearer is not attached to skis and desires the ability to comfortably walk or desires protection for the soles of the ski boots. The first three embodiments generally comprise of sandal-like soles made of a resilient, elastic, springy material, which aids in the natural walking action by alternately compressing and releasing, adding energy to the step, thereby aiding walking while wearing ski boots. A fourth embodiment is made by altering the ski boots themselves so that the heel (41) and toe (40) sections of the boot are hinged (42) to the underside of the boot, and contain a spring that adds energy to each step taken by the user. The hinged sections are pinned against the boot while skiing.

An ink jet drop generator is presented which has a nozzle plate containing at least one nozzle for controlled ejection of droplets of ink. The ejection of ink can be produced by a number of means including by production of a gas bubble in the ink in the vicinity of the nozzle. The nozzle plate also contains at least one drain hole to remove drops of ink from the outer surface of the nozzle plate. These drain holes are preferably connected to an accumulator having a pressure below ambient pressure to help draw drops of ink from the outer surface. The nozzle plate also contains isolator holes which are connected to a refill plenum to help dissipate disturbance energy in the ink to reduce fluidic crosstalk between emitters in multi-emitter heads.

A wafer heating chuck (10) includes a backplane (11) for mounting the wafer thereon. A rear surface of the backplane includes an outer annular recess (20) with an outer angled wall (22). An outer annular heater is located within the recess and has an outer surface complementarily angled with respect to the wall. An inner annular heater (30) resides inside the outer heater, adjacent the rear surface. A clamping member secured to the backplane includes inner (26) and outer (36) retainers which separately clamp the inner and outer heaters, respectively, to the backplane to assure solid to solid contact for optimum heat transfer therebetween. Sensors (52, 54) sense backplane temperature at the inner and outer regions. Coolant is directed through channels (44) in the backplane and through channels in a cooling ring (70) secured to a backplane to influence the temperature of the backplane. A controller (80) connects to the heaters, the sensors and coolant supplies for temperature profiling to achieve temperature uniformity during processing for a wafer (12) mounted to the backplane of the heating chuck.

System and manufacturing a cathodoluminescent lighting device

A device for lighting a room is described. The device has an envelope with a transparent face, the face having an interior surface coated with a cathodoluminescent screen and a thin, reflective, conductive, anode layer. There is a broad-beam electron gun mounted directly to feedthroughs in a base of the envelope with a heated, button-on-hairpin, cathode for emitting electrons in a broad beam towards the anode, and a power supply mounted on the feedthroughs at the base of the envelope that drives the cathode to a multi-kilovolt negative voltage. A two-prong snubber serves as an anode contact to permit the power supply to drive the anode to a voltage near ground. A method of manufacture of the anode uses a single step deposition and lacquering process followed by a metallization using a conical-spiral tungsten filament coated with aluminum by a thermal spray coating process.

A method of implementing virtualization involves dynamic, temporary resource pools. A virtualizing subsystem is capable of partitioning a plurality of physical resources to create resource pools. The virtualizing subsystem is further capable of creating separate environments that logically isolate applications from each other, and assigning a created separate environment to a created resource pool. A separate environment is configured by defining properties of the separate environment. Configuring the separate environment includes specifying at least one resource pool attribute. When the separate environment is started, a temporary resource pool is created from available physical resources and the separate environment is assigned to the temporary resource pool. The temporary resource pool is created in accordance with the at least one resource pool attribute specified when the separate environment was configured. The temporary resource pool may be destroyed when the separate environment is shutdown.

Techniques are disclosed for backup and restore in a distributed database utilizing consistent database snapshots. In particular, a distributed database system configured in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a plurality of interconnected database nodes that collectively define a database having no single point of failure and that can be "viewed" by a SQL client as a single, logical database. In the course of executing such transactions, the distributed database system enables clients to declare snapshots that, when the transaction is committed, cause the distributed database system to logically freeze a consistent and complete copy of the state of the database at the point in time the transaction completed. Such snapshots enable clients to execute so-called "point-in-time" queries against those past states to return a result set that is essentially a reconstructed version of the database "as of" a particular point in time.
