A frame is substantially resistant to the concentration and separates a plurality of electrodes. Releasing of the gases brings the electrolytes in the electrolyzer core out of the electrolyzer core through the supply tube into the electrolyte container. The return tube allows each of the electrolytes to enter the electrolyzer core such that the electrolyte is forced to circulate by a releasing force of the gases.

There is disclosed herein a suspension fork assembly particularly for use with bicycles. The assembly comprises an outer tube which can be mounted in and extend through the head tube of the bicycle frame, and an inner tube that telescopes within the outer tube. A shock absorbing system, preferably in the form of a cartridge is provided within the tubes. The inner surface of the outer tube and the outer surface of the inner tube each have a plurality of axially arranged opposing longitudinal flat sections, such as four on each tube. A plurality of needle bearings are disposed between the tubes on these flat sections. This arrangement, with the needle bearings arranged on the flat sections between the inner and outer tubes, allows the two tubes to freely telescope in and out with respect to one another without any significant static friction, and also serves to maintain torsional rigidity between the outer tube to the inner tube. The stem of the float is flared at 14<c>, and, when the bottle is inverted, the liquid impinges on this flared portion to unseat the valve. A rib 16 in the neck prevents the insertion of a wire to lift the valve.

The machine table a, Fig. 1, carries tappets b, c which operate rollers on pins f, g on a cam-plate e and communicate motion to a shaft r; a third one-way tappet d operates an arm j and gives the shaft r a further movement to give a positive drive on the cutting- stroke only. The shaft r communicates motion to a shaft w, Fig. 4, connected at each end to a sleeve x on the boss y of the fly-wheel z; the inward movement of the sleeve x operates, through toothed wheels and levers, a spindle 16 carrying a pinion 17 which tightens the strap on the driving-pulley 21, the strap on the corresponding pulley at the other end of the shaft w being simultaneously released. Further movement of the sleeve x causes a pin upon the fly-wheel z to come into positive engagement with the pulley 21. The strap clutches are of the type described in Specifications 24/10, [Class 80 (ii), Gearing. Variable-speed &c.], and 26,476/10. In a modified construction for use on large machines, the shaft r operates rods 38, Fig. 11, carrying racks which operate through bevel wheels 43, 44 a sleeve 45 which gears with the flywheel-shaft through wheels 46, 47. The bevel-wheel 43, and the pinions connecting it with the rack-rod 38, are carried upon a member 50 gearing with a wheel 53 upon a sleeve loose upon the fly-wheel boss; an extension of this sleeve carries a pinion 55, Fig. 13, which drives a wheel 56 having cam slots for engaging a rod 12 which operates the friction - clutch. Two flywheels 4 rotating in opposite directions are employed, each capable of being clutched to a drum 1, mounted on the shaft, by the application of a brake to a wheel 30 working in a bath 31 of soap and water, thin oil, or the like. A clutch band 26 is secured at one end 27 to the fly-wheel 4 and surrounds the drum 1, being provided at its end with a rack 24 engaged by a pinion 23 on a crank 21. The latter is connected by a link 20 with a lever 18 actuated by a slidable rack 15, which is driven by a pinion 14 connected by gearing 10, 8, 9, 12 to the brakewheel 30. Application of the brake retards the pinion 14 and tightens the clutch band on the drum 1. A spring 28 acting on the lever 18 or on the rack 15 disengages the clutch when the brake is removed. The pinion 23 may be connected to a curved rack directly actuated by the pinion 14. The brakes may be operated by a governor or controlling-device operated from the machine driven, or in electrically-driven machinery they may be controlled by the current.

An endorser assembly comprising inking, ink transfer and endorser rolls resiliently mounted within a modular type supporting frame to enable removal and replacement of the entire endorser assembly from paper handling apparatus. The endorser and ink rolls are adapted to be easily removed from and replaced in the supporting frame. The endorser roll is adapted to print variable and semi-permanent graphic data on sheets processed by the document count handling device and may be selectively moved between an engaged and disengaged position without being removed from the proper handling apparatus. The data-bearing surfaces are resilient and raised relative to the endorser roll surface. A backing platen cooperative with the endorser roll is provided with grooves aligned with the data-bearing surfaces to prevent "back printing" of the processed sheets being endorsed. The variable and/or semi-permanent data-bearing surfaces are "crowned" in the axial direction of the endorser drum to enable wider "stripes" of graphic data to be printed on the documents being processed. "Long" lines of print may be printed on long documents by using at least one additional roller and an elongated closed loop print strip is entrained about the endorser drum and the roller. The drum may be crowned to print wider print lines while avoiding "back printing".

A fault in a thermoelectric device is detected by: applying a voltage across the thermoelectric device; ceasing to apply the voltage after a predefined period of time; measuring a Seebeck voltage Vs across the thermoelectric device; comparing Vs to a first threshold voltage VT; and creating a record of a fault if Vs is below VT. The thermoelectric device may be a Peltier heating or cooling device within a vehicle seat. The voltage applied may be the normal pulse width modulated (PWM) control signal applied to the seat heating system, with the Seebeck voltage measured during the periods of the PWM signal when the device is switched off. The method may also measure the temperature at one end of the thermoelectric device and calculate the temperature at the other end from the measured Seebeck voltage. The calculated temperature compared to a threshold indicates a fault e.g. an open circuit.

Sheets moving in a feed direction and arranged at spaced intervals are fed through nips arranged to rollingly engage opposing sides of the sheet, each nip being formed by a roller rotating about a fixed axis and a cooperating swingably mounted roller. Resilient adjustable biasing means urges an assembly upon which the swingably mounted roller is pivotally mounted, as well as an arm forming part of the pivotally mounted roller assembly, in a first direction. A sensor is positioned adjacent the free end of said arm. Sheets moving through said nip cause displacement of said pivotal assembly against the biasing force in accordance with the thickness of the sheet passing through the nip. The biasing means comprises a thick, and accurate resilient element designed to permit the roller assembly to follow even abrupt thickness changes rapidly and accurately without experiencing overshoot or undershoot. The sensor senses the position of a field generating element mounted upon the free end of said arm to provide a signal representative of the size and direction of the displacement. The output signals developed during the passage of a sheet through said nips are compared against a threshold. The sensors are periodically examined to provide an offset signal for automatically compensating for changes in output signal strength due to changes in temperature, the new zero offset being generated during the time that no sheet, is passing between the aforesaid nips. The offset signal is combined with the sensor signal to provide a compensated sensor signal which is then compared with a reference level representing a predetermined thickness.

This invention provides a method for inducing weight loss in an animal by administering to the animal a compound which reduces the expression and/or secretion of neuropeptide Y (NPY). The effect may be accomplished directly, indirectly, or humorally. Preferably, administration of this compound has the effect of increasing malonyl CoA levels in the animal. Compounds administered according to this invention may be inhibitors of fatty acid synthase (FAS), including substituted α-methylene-β-carboxyl-γ-butyrolactones, or inhibitors of malonyl Coenzyme A decarboxylase (MCD). Preferably, the compound is administered in an amount sufficient to reduce the amount and/or duration of expression and/or secretion of NPY to levels at or below those observed for lean animals. In another preferred embodiment, the administration will reduce expression and/or secretion to levels observed for fed or satiated animals; more preferably, administration will reduce the level of NPY below that of fed animals. In a particular embodiment, this invention provides a method for inducing weight loss in an animal by administering a compound which inhibits feeding behavior in the animal. The method is particularly useful for inducing weight loss in animals deficient in expression of the hormone leptin or animals resistant to the action of leptin.
