This document relates to materials and methods involved in assessing inflammatory bowel disease patients at risk for developing cancer. For example, materials and methods for monitoring colorectal cancer risk in ulcerative colitis patients are provided. 1. A method for assessing a mammal diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease for the presence of or an increased risk of developing colorectal cancer , wherein said method comprises determining whether or not said mammal comprises at least two markers from the group consisting of elevated MPO polypeptide levels , elevated RUNX3 methylation status , elevated MINT1 methylation status , and reduced COX-2 methylation status as compared to a normal control , wherein the presence of said at least two markers is indicative of an increased risk of developing colorectal cancer.2. A pumpless, fanless electrolyte-circulation system comprises an electrolyzer core that generates hydrogen and oxygen gases and includes a water electrolyzer having a plurality of electrolytic serial clusters connected substantially in parallel with each other and assembled into respective sealed reaction cells. Each of the electrolytic serial clusters includes a plurality of electrolytic cells. An electrolyte container includes a plurality of electrolytes in form of a concentration and is substantially separated from and connected to the electrolyzer core with a supply tube and return tube. A frame is substantially resistant to the concentration and separates a plurality of electrodes. Releasing of the gases brings the electrolytes in the electrolyzer core out of the electrolyzer core through the supply tube into the electrolyte container. The return tube allows each of the electrolytes to enter the electrolyzer core such that the electrolyte is forced to circulate by a releasing force of the gases.

METHOD OF REMOVING A METAL DETAIL FROM A SUBSTRATE

A method of removing a metal detail from a dielectric material of an article may include placing the article in an electrolyte bath such that at least a portion of the metal detail is submerged. The metal detail may be coupled to a dielectric material. The method may further include positioning at least one cathode in the electrolyte bath in spaced relation to the metal detail, and passing electrical current through the metal detail. The method may additionally include deplating the metal detail from the dielectric material in response to passing the electrical current through the metal detail. 1. A built-in apparatus and method for treating air including a housing with an air inlet and an air outlet. An air mover positioned near the air outlet is configured to draw the air through the air inlet. The housing encloses an air treatment zone, such as including an oxidizing zone, and an ozone removal zone positioned downstream of the air treatment zone and oxidizing zone. The air treatment zone includes UV light and/or ozone that partially oxidizes the chemical contaminants in the air treatment zone. A catalyst in the oxidizing zone oxidizes elements within the air treatment zone. The ozone removal zone includes a second, different catalyst material. There is disclosed herein a suspension fork assembly particularly for use with bicycles. The assembly comprises an outer tube which can be mounted in and extend through the head tube of the bicycle frame, and an inner tube that telescopes within the outer tube. A shock absorbing system, preferably in the form of a cartridge is provided within the tubes. The inner surface of the outer tube and the outer surface of the inner tube each have a plurality of axially arranged opposing longitudinal flat sections, such as four on each tube. A plurality of needle bearings are disposed between the tubes on these flat sections. This arrangement, with the needle bearings arranged on the flat sections between the inner and outer tubes, allows the two tubes to freely telescope in and out with respect to one another without any significant static friction, and also serves to maintain torsional rigidity between the outer tube to the inner tube. The needle bearings thus bear radial loads as well as maintain the in line relationship of the outer and inner tubes for rotational forces while allowing the two tubes to freely telescope. Further, a rigid front blade is secured the inner tube to hold the front wheel of the vehicle and to provide bending and torsional stiffness.

Two flywheels 4 rotating in opposite directions are employed, each capable of being clutched to a drum 1, mounted on the shaft, by the application of a brake to a wheel 30 working in a bath 31 of soap and water, thin oil, or the like. A clutch band 26 is secured at one end 27 to the fly-wheel 4 and surrounds the drum 1, being provided at its end with a rack 24 engaged by a pinion 23 on a crank 21. A system and method of predicting the impact of forecasted weather, environmental, and geologic events (that include one or more weather/environmental/geologic conditions) by determining a recurrence interval of each past condition in each location, determining the correlation between the past condition and the observable impact of the past event, calculating a predicted observable impact of each past event, calculating a predicted impact of each past event recurring by multiplying the predicted observable impact of the past event by the recurrence interval of the past condition, grouping the past events into a plurality of groups based on the predicted impact of the past condition recurring, determining a threshold for each group, receiving forecasted conditions, and determining the predicted impact of the forecasted conditions by comparing the forecasted conditions with the thresholds.

Surge protection device

A surge suppression circuit with a thermal cutoff includes a first surge suppressor in series with a first thermal cutoff device between a phase conductor and a neutral conductor. A second surge suppressor in series with a second thermal cutoff device is between the phase conductor and a ground conductor. A third surge suppressor is in series with a low temperature thermal cutoff device between the neutral conductor and the ground conductor. The thermal cutoff temperature of the low temperature thermal cutoff device is lower than the thermal cutoff temperature of the first thermal cutoff device.

Endorser assembly and drum therefor

An endorser assembly comprising inking, ink transfer and endorser rolls resiliently mounted within a modular type supporting frame to enable removal and replacement of the entire endorser assembly from paper handling apparatus. The endorser and ink rolls are adapted to be easily removed from and replaced in the supporting frame. The endorser roll is adapted to print variable and semi-permanent graphic data on sheets processed by the document count handling device and may be selectively moved between an engaged and disengaged position without being removed from the proper handling apparatus. The data-bearing surfaces are resilient and raised relative to the endorser roll surface. A backing platen cooperative with the endorser roll is provided with grooves aligned with the data-bearing surfaces to prevent "back printing" of the processed sheets being endorsed. The variable and/or semi-permanent data-bearing surfaces are "crowned" in the axial direction of the endorser drum to enable wider "stripes" of graphic data to be printed on the documents being processed. "Long" lines of print may be printed on long documents by using at least one additional roller and an elongated closed loop print strip is entrained about the endorser drum and the roller. The drum may be crowned to print wider print lines while avoiding "back printing".

Thermoelectric system and method

A fault in a thermoelectric device is detected by: applying a voltage across the thermoelectric device; ceasing to apply the voltage after a predefined period of time; measuring a Seebeck voltage Vs across the thermoelectric device; comparing Vs to a first threshold voltage VT; and creating a record of a fault if Vs is below VT. The thermoelectric device may be a Peltier heating or cooling device within a vehicle seat. The voltage applied may be the normal pulse width modulated (PWM) control signal applied to the seat heating system, with the Seebeck voltage measured during the periods of the PWM signal when the device is switched off. The method may also measure the temperature at one end of the thermoelectric device and calculate the temperature at the other end from the measured Seebeck voltage. The calculated temperature compared to a threshold indicates a fault e.g. an open circuit.

Method and apparatus for detecting abnormal thickness conditions such as folded and/or missing corners of moving sheets

Sheets moving in a feed direction and arranged at spaced intervals are fed through nips arranged to rollingly engage opposing sides of the sheet, each nip being formed by a roller rotating about a fixed axis and a cooperating swingably mounted roller. Resilient adjustable biasing means urges an assembly upon which the swingably mounted roller is pivotally mounted, as well as an arm forming part of the pivotally mounted roller assembly, in a first direction. A sensor is positioned adjacent the free end of said arm. Sheets moving through said nip cause displacement of said pivotal assembly against the biasing force in accordance with the thickness of the sheet passing through the nip. The biasing means comprises a thick, and accurate resilient element designed to permit the roller assembly to follow even abrupt thickness changes rapidly and accurately without experiencing overshoot or undershoot. The sensor senses the position of a field generating element mounted upon the free end of said arm to provide a signal representative of the size and direction of the displacement. The output signals developed during the passage of a sheet through said nips are compared against a threshold. The sensors are periodically examined to provide an offset signal for automatically compensating for changes in output signal strength due to changes in temperature, the new zero offset being generated during the time that no sheet, is passing between the aforesaid nips. The offset signal is combined with the sensor signal to provide a compensated sensor signal which is then compared with a reference level representing a predetermined thickness.

This invention relates to polymers which comprise the reaction product of: (A) about 0-99.9 weight percent of one or more nonionic, cationic, anionic or amphoteric monomers; (B) about 0-99.9 weight percent of one or more monoethylenically unsaturated monomers different from (A); (C) about 0.1-100 weight percent of one or more monoethylenically unsaturated macromonomers different from (A) and (B); and (D) about 0-20 weight percent or greater of one or more polyethylenically unsaturated monomers different from (A), (B) and (C). When the polymers are added to latex paints and the pH adjusted, the viscosity of the paint is increased, brush drag is increased, and the paint rheology is otherwise improved. This invention also relates to macromonomer compounds useful as copolymerizable monomers in various polymerization methods and as emulsifiers in the emulsion or suspension polymerization of various monomers to produce an aqueous suspension of polymer particles. This invention further relates to complex hydrophobe compounds and to alkoxylation products, i.e., condensation reaction products of alkylene oxides and complex hydrophobe compounds having at least one active hydrogen and to alkoxylation products.

This invention provides a method for inducing weight loss in an animal by administering to the animal a compound which reduces the expression and/or secretion of neuropeptide Y (NPY). The effect may be accomplished directly, indirectly, or humorally. Preferably, administration of this compound has the effect of increasing malonyl CoA levels in the animal. Compounds administered according to this invention may be inhibitors of fatty acid synthase (FAS), including substituted α-methylene-β-carboxyl-γ-butyrolactones, or inhibitors of malonyl Coenzyme A decarboxylase (MCD). Preferably, the compound is administered in an amount sufficient to reduce the amount and/or duration of expression and/or secretion of NPY to levels at or below those observed for lean animals. In another preferred embodiment, the administration will reduce expression and/or secretion to levels observed for fed or satiated animals; more preferably, administration will reduce the level of NPY below that of fed animals. In a particular embodiment, this invention provides a method for inducing weight loss in an animal by administering a compound which inhibits feeding behavior in the animal. The method is particularly useful for inducing weight loss in animals deficient in expression of the hormone leptin or animals resistant to the action of leptin.

A container has a lid 16 attached to the body of the container by a hinge arrangement. When the hinge arrangement is assembled, knuckles on the lid 16 are interleaved with knuckles 20 formed along the upper edge of the container walls. Each of the knuckles has an elongate bore formed to receive a single hinge pin 38 along the common line. When the lid 16 is closed, a tab 34 projects through a socket 24 into the interior of the knuckle 20, thereby preventing the hinge being pulled apart.

An opposed tapered conical elastomeric flap bearing assembly for rotary aircraft includes an outer housing having an outer surface and an inner surface. The outer surface is configured to mechanically connect the bearing assembly to the attachment sections of the hub center body. The inner surface is configured to receive a pair of opposed taper conical bearing elements. An inboard bearing element and an outboard bearing element are located within the outer housing. The bearing elements are arranged in an opposed manner. An axial pre-load can be applied to the opposed bearing assembly wherein the resulting force couple bearing pre-load path is maintained entirely within the bearing assembly. Consequently, the weight of the main rotor hub is reduced increasing the efficiency of rotary flight.
