The present invention provides a method for producing 1,2-benzisothiazol-3-one compounds by reacting a 2-(alkylthio)benzonitrile compound with a halogenating agent in the presence of water, the method being characterized in that the reaction proceeds while the halogenating agent and water are gradually and simultaneously added to a reaction system containing the 2-(alkylthio)benzonitrile compound. The invention allows the simple and economical production of highly pure 1,2-benzisothiazol-3-one compounds, which are useful as antimicrobial agents, antifungal agents, etc. 2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the halogenating agent and water are simultaneously added to the reaction system in such a manner that the amount of water added falls within the range of 0.5 times less to 0.5 times more in an amount by mol than the amount by mol of the halogenating agent added to the reaction system.3. An external input means (2) for designating a desired address in the internal memory and changing and inputting the processing numerical expression of the matrix-like table thereto is also provided. Thus the contents of the totalizing memories can be altered and set easily by the numerical expressions which are changeable by such external input means, hence facilitating alteration of the contents to be totalized at the user level.

The novel benzenedithiol is produced by reacting 4-­tert.-butylbenzenethiol or di(4-tert.-butylphenyl)disulfide with sulfur monochloride in the presence of iodine or a Lewis acid in a solvent, and then reducing the resultant product with a metal selected from the group consisting of zinc, tin, iron and aluminum in the presence of an acid. The novel Cu, Co and Ni complexes are produced by reacting the benzenedithiol with a salt of the corresponding divalent transition metal in the presence of an alkoxide metal or a hydride metal and a quarternary ammonium salt in a solvent under an oxidative atmosphere. The complexes strongly absorb rays in the region of ultraviolet, visible or near infrared, and are useful intermediates for the production of optical information recording media.

A printer apparatus is provided with a frame memory for storing a printing pattern, a printing head driven in accordance with the printing pattern stored in the frame memory, and a processor for producing a plurality of graphic patterns in the frame memory in accordance with a plurality of items of printing data which are externally supplied, to thereby form a printing pattern. The processor of the printer apparatus includes a buffer memory and a CPU. The buffer memory stores image distribution data indicating a frame memory area which is occupied by the image portion of the graphic pattern corresponding to printing data to be changed and from which the marginal portions of the graphic pattern is excluded. When printing data which should be used in place of the printing data to be changed is supplied, the CPU reads the image distribution data relating to the printing data to be changed out of the distribution data memory, and clears the frame memory area specified by the image distribution data.
