A method of attaching a head assembly having an annular hollow boss to an arm having a through hole of a carriage is provided. The head assembly includes a load beam of a head suspension and a base plate fixed to a base part of the load beam. The boss is formed on the base plate. The method includes steps of, inserting the boss into the through hole, thereby setting the head assembly to the arm of the carriage, supplying lubricant along the cylindrical jig to the caulking ball and pushing the caulking ball with the cylindrical jig to pass the caulking ball through an inside of the boss and diametrally expand and plastically deform the boss, thereby fixedly fitting the boss of the head assembly to the through hole of the arm of the carriage. The method causes no deformation of a flange formed on the base plate during caulking and is achievable at low cost.

An effective production method for silane-treated clays having exceptional reinforcing effects with respect to rubber, and compositions using these silane-treated clays are offered. With the silane-treated clay production method, a functional silane is predispersed or emulsified in water by means of a surfactant in order to mix the functional silane with kaolin clay and thereby uniformly surface-treat the kaolin clay with the functional silane. The surfactant should preferably be a non-ionic surfactant with an HLB value in the range of 8-18. The silane-treated clay formed by surface-treating kaolin clay by means of these functional silanes characteristically contains low residual levels of the non-ionic surfactants. The functional silanes can be either vinyl or sulfur functional silanes. The silane treated clays are useful as fillers or extenders in rubber compositions, particularly those employing silicas and/or carbon blacks.

An ultraviolet curable coating composition for cationic electrodeposition applicable to metal plated materials which composition comprises 100 weight parts of acrylic resin containing 10 to 70% by weight poly-functional acrylate per se having 3 or more acryloyl groups and 90 to 30% by weight of a resin of molecular weight 2,000-30,000 having a cationic electrodeposition property, and 0.1-10 weight parts of 2 or more species of photopolymerization initiators which absorb ultraviolet radiation in a wavelength range of 300-400 nm, as effective ingredients. The coating composition can readily be deposited electrically on metal materials including plated products and plastic materials provided with electrical conductivity and cured by irradiation of ultraviolet radiation within a short period of time to give a dry coating film which is appreciable in adhesiveness to the plated materials and good in appearance. Particularly, since the ultraviolet irradiation can be carried out at ordinary temperature, the method can be applied to non-heat-resistant materials such as plastics provided with electrical conductivity.

These feed means are connected through a valve to a single transport pipe and back pressure devices are provided in all but one of the liquid-substance feed means. While a liquid substance is being fed by one of the feeding means, another liquid substance having different properties is passing in the other feed means and using the back pressure device provided in the latter means, the flow rate and the pressure of the latter liquid substance are controlled as the same as those of the former being fed by the former feed means. Being switched over, in this condition, from the former feed means to the latter to feed the latter liquid substance, two or more kinds of liquid substance having different properties can be fed sequentially at predetermined pressure and flow rate.
