The nanocomposites include a three-dimensional matrix having a non-lamellar, generally isotropic cellular structure with little or no macroscopic pores. The nanocomposites also include a gel that may be a noncovalently cross-linked, thermoreversible gel. The nanocomposites may include a binder and/or fibrous reinforcement materials. The nanocomposites may be formed according to a freeze-drying process in which ice crystal growth is controlled to prevent formation of macroscopic pores in the composite materials.

A computer-implemented method for estimating a rotor speed of an alternating current (AC) machine is provided. The method includes determining a stator flux signal based on signals of voltage and current inputs to the AC machine, and determining a rotor flux signal of the AC machine based on the determined stator flux signal. The method includes determining an electrical angle signal based on the determined rotor flux signal, and deriving an electrical frequency signal from the determined electrical angle signal. Subsequently, the method includes sampling the derived electrical frequency signal at a predetermined sampling rate, and storing a predetermined number of sample values. The method further includes evaluating a median value of the predetermined set of electrical frequency sample values, determining a slip frequency value of the AC machine, and determining the rotor speed of the AC machine by subtracting the slip frequency value from the electrical frequency median value.

A test pattern membrane test method uses a test pattern membrane to test the capacitive sensors of a device. The device is placed in the test fixture. The capacitive sensors are read without the test pattern membrane, storing as a set of baseline measurements. The test pattern membrane is placed on the unit to be tested. The test pattern membrane has a plurality of conductive areas on a non-conductive substrate. The conductive areas are arranged in a pattern that corresponds to the pattern of capacitive sensors. The sensors are read again to obtain a set of stimulated measurements. Differences for each of the sensors are determined between the sensor readings with and without the test pattern membrane in place. This difference is compared to a threshold. A sensor is considered to be functioning properly if the difference value is greater than the sensor's threshold value. 1. Such carbinol may be obtained as a reaction product of the corresponding hydride-terminated polysiloxane and a linear C 4 -C 20 ω-alkenyl alcohol. The hydride-terminated polysiloxane in turn may be obtained as a reaction product of either (i) the corresponding silanol of molecular weight at least 10,000 and a hydridosilane having one or more hydrolyzable groups attached to the silicon atom, or (ii) a cyclosiloxane and a 1,3-dihydrido disiloxane. The disclosed compounds may be utilized in adhesive compositions for substrates including bonding surfaces such as glass, and polymers and copolymers of ethylenically unsaturated monomers. The bonding of such substrates may suitably be carried out at least partially under anoxic conditions, e.g., with elevated temperature and/or actinic radiation curing of the bonding composition in a substantially oxygen-free environment. Upon reception, the reversal of data randomization occurs so that the intended message is appropriately received.

The connector is in two pieces with one piece having pins and shield plates and the other having socket type signal contacts and shield plates. The shields have a grounding arrangement which is adapted to control the electromagnetic fields, for various system architectures, simultaneous switching configurations and signal speeds, allowing all of the socket type signal contacts to be used for signal transmission. A photographic element including a support bearing a silver halide photographic emulsion and an image dye-forming coupler, wherein the image dye-forming coupler includes a ballasted arylidene pyrazolone which is also a filter dye that upon exposure and processing of the element is destroyed in both exposed and unexposed areas of said element or a masking coupler that upon exposure and processing is destroyed only in exposed areas of the element. The arylidene pyrazolone compound includes an oxygen-inclusive electron donating group in conjugation with the arylidene function, preferably positioned para to the arylidene function.

A system and method for assisting a user in assembling a culinary combination according to a recipe. The system comprises a scale and a computing device configured to communicate with the scale. The system displays information regarding ingredients of the recipe and displays a progress of assembling the culinary combination based on the information from the scale. In some embodiments, a bar graph is displayed with a bar proportional to the measured amount of an ingredient of the recipe compared to a target amount for the ingredient. In some embodiments, the system displays a build column of one or more recipe blocks, representing actions or ingredients of the recipe. An active recipe block is displayed with a portion of the recipe block displayed in a different manner in proportion to the measured amount of an ingredient of the recipe compared to a target amount for the ingredient.

A high speed, high density electrical connector for use with printed circuit boards. The connector is in two pieces with one piece having pins and shield plates and the other having socket type signal contacts and shield plates. The shields have a grounding arrangement which is adapted to control the electromagnetic fields, for various system architectures, simultaneous switching configurations and signal speeds, allowing all of the socket type signal contacts to be used for signal transmission. Additionally, at least one piece of the connector is manufactured from wafers, with each ground plane and signal column injection molded into components which, when combined, form a wafer. This construction allows very close spacing between adjacent columns of signal contacts as well as tightly controlled spacing between the signal contacts and the shields. It also allows for easy and flexible manufacture, such as a connector that has wafers intermixed in a configuration to accommodate single ended, point to point and differential applications.
