Принадлежит: CEDARS-SINAI MEDICAL CENTER

Described here are systems and methods for deriving both spinal motor neurons and brain microvascular endothelial cells from induced pluripotent stem cells using distinct methods and combining them in a chip format. Neurons cultured alone in chip microvolume displayed increased calcium transient function and chip-specific gene expression. When seeded with endothelial cells, interaction further enhanced neural function, elicited vascular-neural interaction, niche gene expression with enhanced in vivo-like signatures arising from the chip co-cultures. Development of novel media formulations further allow for improved readout of differentiation process, by eliminating additives that otherwise confound differentiation processes and resulting phenotypes. 1. A method of generating spinal neural progenitor cells (spNPCs) comprising:providing induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs);differentiating iPSCs into neural ectodermal cells by culturing in neural induction media; anddissociating neural ectodermal cells, replating on a cell culture substrate and further culturing the replated neural ectodermal cells in differentiation media to generate spNPCs.2. This application addresses techniques for personalizing natural language generation by conversational agents. These solutions allow for human-like, large scale opinion expression using a consistent style or personality. Training sentences may be retrieved and a vocabulary may be built based on an analysis of the training sentences. The sentences may be analyzed to determine: (1) whether they express an opinion; (2) whether the opinion is positive or negative; (3) whether the sentence fits in the context of the currently communication; and (4) whether the sentence came from a person with first-hand experience of the topic. Further classifications may be made based on characteristics such as the age or gender of the person expressing the opinion. These opinions may be entered into a repository and used for opinion expression, for example by using the statements directly in a conversation or by training a language generation model with the opinions. 2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising retrieving the language data from a messaging service claim 1 , a social networking service claim 1 , a media sharing service claim 1 , or a review service.3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the vocabulary is generated based at least in part on a term frequency/inverse document frequency analysis.4. ANALYZING LANGUAGE UNITS FOR PERSONALITY

Принадлежит:

This application addresses techniques for personalizing natural language generation by conversational agents. These solutions allow for human-like, large scale opinion expression using a consistent style or personality. Opinion statements may be retrieved and categorized. These opinion statements may be entered into a database and used directly for opinion expression. A model, such as an artificial neural network, may be generated or parameterized based on these opinions. Within the model structure, a personality embedding space may be defined. The embedding space may be used when generating new sentences, or to classify newly-generated or existing sentences. Thus, the model may be used to find further examples of opinions in the same style, or to generate entirely new opinion sentences in a given style. 1. A method comprising:accessing a plurality of opinion statements;using the plurality of opinion statements to generate a language model;identifying a personality embedding space within the language model, the personality embedding space representing a portion of the model that encodes information about personality characteristics of an input rather than a topic of the input, the personality embedding space being a d-dimensional space divided into a plurality of regions of d-dimensional space, each region associated with a personality characteristic;accessing a new input opinion statement; andusing the personality embedding space to classify a personality of the new input opinion statement as a personality characteristic represented by a d-dimensional vector mapped to one region in the d-dimensional space.2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the model is an artificial neural network (ANN) comprising a layer and a preceding layer claim 1 , the layer comprising a first set of nodes and a second set of nodes in which no node of the preceding layer interconnects to a node in the first set and a node in the second set claim 1 , the first set forming the portion of the ...

ABSTRACT: A method and an apparatus for measuring distant echo delay in an echo cancelling arrangement. The delay of the distant echo in an echo can-celling arrangement comprising a near echo canceller, a delay line and a distant echo canceller is measured in accordance with a method which comprises the following steps: - transmission, by modulation of a carrier, of a data sequence having a periodic autocorrelation function with sidelobes of negative or zero value, this sequence having a duration at least equal to the maximum value of the delay to be measured and a number of elements determined by the accuracy desired for measurement of the delay; - calculation of the correlation function between the data of a next transmitted sequence and the data formed by demodulating the received signal and storing calcu-lated samples of the correlation function in a memory; - determining, among the samples stored, the sample cor-responding to the maximum of the correlation function and the rank of that sample.

ABSTRACT: The invention relates to a method of two-way radiocommunication between fixed stations and mobile stations permitting effective utilization of available radiocommunication channels. All the fixed stations transmit in a first radio path of multiplexed communi-cation channels and all the mobile stations transmit in a second radio path of multiplexed communication channels, each pair of communication channels in the first and second paths being capable of handling two-way communi-cation between any one of the fixed stations and any one of the mobile stations. As a result, the known motion of cellular patterning, and in particular the distribution of frequencies or time intervals between cells, is no longer implemented in the invention, at least as regards the routing of communications. Nevertheless, this notion is retained for exploiting a channel called a semaphore channel serving the procedure of establishing links. When the channels are time-division multiplexed, in accordance with the TDMA-type method, only two numerical paths are utilized. When the channels are frequency-division multiplexed, in accordance with the FDMA-type method, only two frequency bands are allocated to radiocommunicatons.

A triggering system and process for a form reader is shown using a histogram of the optical scene. The form reader is open on three sides with a camera facing a platen on to which a form is placed. The camera converts the light rays reflected from the platen into a video stream that is sent to a processor. A change in content of a first light intensity level contrasted to the content of a second light intensity level is used to determine when the form enters the scene. Illustratively, the first light intensity level represents black levels and the second light intensity levels represent white levels. A threshold is pre-determined that isolates the first light intensity content, and when the first light intensity content remains constant (after the presence of a form) the form is deemed to be still wherein the system may then read the information on the form.

A query rank reviser suggests known highly-ranked queries as revisions to a first query by initially assigning a rank to all queries, and identifying a set of known highly-ranked queries (KHRQ). Queries with a strong probability of being revised to a KHRQ are identified as nearby queries (NQ). Alternative queries that are KHRQs are provided as candidate revisions for a given query. For alternative queries that are NQs, the corresponding known highly-ranked queries are provided as candidate revisions.
